~Chapter 14~

I paced back and forth in my appartment while I waited for my mom to come back from the grocery store. I needed to tell Mom about me and Max. She's gonna find out one way or another. I am extremely nervous. Sarah just left to go to a friends house so that takes away the stress of telling her, but it is still gonna be hard.

I heard the lock turn in the door and my mom walked in. I ran to help her and grabbed the bags out her arms. I placed them on the counter and ran back to Mom.

"Mom can we talk?" I asked.

"I have to put the frozen food away," she walked into the kitchen. "You can talk to me while I work. Or even better, you can help me too."

I walked into the kitchen and began to go through the bags and talk.

"Well so, you know Max. And you know how we are friends. And you know how we are best friends.." I kept saying 'And you know' because I was stalling.

"And I know that you're in love with him," Mom cut in.

"How did you know?" I asked shocked. Max hasn't said anything to her has he.

"I always knew, Mary. There is a strong connection between the two of you. Your father knew too. He and Max's father used to joke about you and Max growing up and falling in love. Everybody knew it but you too," she leaned against the counter and sighed. "Mary he loves you more than you think. I still kept contact with Max's mother after he left for Hollywood. She said Max took it hard when he left. Mrs. Schneider says he talked about you all the time. Although he left, he didn't forget you. And you didn't forget him."

This made me think back to the morning of his audition.

"And when you become all rich and famous, don't forget me either!" I said to him that morning.

"How could I forget you Mary?" Max had replied. He knew it before I did. We were completely and unconditionally in love. I felt tears come to my eyes.

I quickly snapped back to reality and remembered where I was. I was in the kitchen with my mom, not standing on the curb outside our building watching him drive away. "I know Mom," was all I said before walking into the living room and plopping down on the couch. I decided to watch some T.V. to get my mind off things. When I turned it on I saw Max and Cymphonique talking on the screen. How To Rock was on. I tried to change the channel. It wouldn't let me. A message popped up saying that to change the channel I had to stop a recording. I hate it when that happens. The first of the recordings was one of my mom's soap operas, if I cancelled the recording she would be mad. The other was How To Rock which Sarah recorded. She would kill me if I cancelled it. I figured that watching How To Rock was better than nothing.

About five minutes into watching the show I heard someone talk from behind me. "That was a fun episode. You see the fear in my eyes? That's real!"

I looked at the scene on the T.V. It was when Max's character Zander was being tackled by dogs. Then I looked behind me and I saw Max standing by the enterance to the living room.

"How'd you get in?" I asked.

"You're mom let me in," he answered then sat down next to me on the couch.
