~Chapter 8~

Max, Max, Max. That's all I heard the next morning. I completely forgot he was performing at my school today. I didn't even tell him I went to Juilliard. He would be so proud of me if he knew. He always said I had talent, but I didn't know it at the time. I was outshined by Max. And I don't care, because I supported him every step of the way. And I still do. The only time he ever heard me sing was when we were goofing off in the park. He sung everywhere, anytime.

A few minutes into class there was an announcement came over the intercom. "All students in the Chorus Program, School Band, Orchestra, or Theatre Club, please report to the theatre at this time. Thank you!" I was part of two of the four (Band and Theatre Club), so I quickly grabbed my bag of books and headed towards the theatre.

"Hey Marissa!" Megan said tagging along the walk. She is in the Theatre Club so she must be going the same place I was.

"Hey Megan!" I replied with a smile.

"It's a shame I didn't run into you at the concert last night!"

"Yeah, it was a hectic night anyway. My sister won us backstage passes.

"That was you guys that won?"

"Yup!" I let out a little laugh.

"Must have been amazing to meet him," Megan sighed.

"It was cool," I didn't want to brag so that was all I said, even though I could go on and on about it. "Here we go!" I smiled as we turned the corner and walked through the doors of the theatre. There he was, center stage. Max sat there, wearing the same fedora he had on when I ran into him the other day. He was tuning his guitar.

"Look there are two seats open in the front row! Hurry let's go grab those!" Megan alerted me before running to grab the seats. I laughed at her being so imature then walked to catch up with her. She put her bag on the chair next to her to save me a seat. The seats were in the dead center, and really close to the stage. When I caught up with her she moved her bag and I put mine in it's place. I was too jumpy and excited to sit down. I turned to face her with my back to the stage.

"So did you enjoy the concert last night?" I asked Megan.

"Yes I really did. It was-" she paused and looked up behind me onto the edge of the stage. Because I was facing her I didn't know what she was looking at. "Awesome," she finished.

"Hello Ms. Mary," I heard a familiar voice come from behind me.

I turned around to see Max standing over me at the edge of the stage with my favorite smile on his face.

"Hey Max," I let out a laugh.

"I always knew you'd end up here!" Max hopped down and grabbed me in a big hug.

"And I knew you'd be where you are today. Well not exactly this school, I mean like, success wise," I laughed as he released me. I turned around. Megan stood there with her jaw to the ground, mouth gaping in awe.

"You- know- Max- Schneider?" She studdered out.

We both laughed. "Let's just say we're old friends," Max smiled, then put his arm around me and gave me a squeeze.

"Wow," was all Megan said before getting lost in her thoughts.

"Mr. Schneider, may I have a word?" the school headmaster called to Max from the stage.

"Yeah, sure. I'm coming," Max replied.

"So did you read the poster?" He asked me, turning to go.

"Yes, and it's hanging over my bed," I said with a smile. I had hung the poster this morning after putting Max's phone number into my contacts.

"Call me when you're out from school later. Maybe we can hang," he laughed.
