On the shores of the Hogwarts lake, the Marauders, LILY, MARLENE, and MARY study together under the shade of the beech tree.
LILY: Okay, so what was the most common charm that wizards used to survive the witch burnings of the fourteenth century.
MARLENE: The, umm- the Flame-Freezing Charm.
LILY: Good. And how many times did Wendelin the Weird allow herself to get caught by Witch Hunters?
REMUS: Forty-seven.
LILY: Awesome. I think we're good with History of Magic, what do you want to study next?
REMES: I don't know, let's just take a break.
MARLENE: Amen. (she lays down on the grass and stares up at the branches of the beech tree).
SIRIUS: (to JAMES) What's up with you, mate? You're awfully quiet.
JAMES: Just thinking of the attack in Hogsmeade.
REMUS: Dumbledore reckons there's going to be more in the future.
JAMES: (taking a stone and skipping it across the water) What about your cousin, Narcissa? Where do you think she is right now?
SIRIUS: (spitefully) Probably playing cards with You-Know-Who while my mum serves them tea.
MARY: Wait a minute. So what exactly happened that night?
SIRIUS: Apparently a couple Death Eaters including my lovely cousin broke into Hogsmeade and started attacking some of the Aurors on guard.
JAMES: And rumor has it that Narcissa cow joined them.
SIRIUS: But my other cousin, Andromeda- the good one- fought them off. And then once Dumbledore showed up, they scattered like roaches.
MARY: That's insane!
MARLENE: But it happened. And my brothers agree with Dumbledore, they think this is just the beginning.
MARY: The beginning of what?
REMUS: Of a war. Between You-Know-Who and Dumbledore's secret army.
MARY: Merlin help us.
SIRIUS: Yeah, well. Let's not worry about that right now. We've got exams to study for, right, Lily?
LILY: Eh, let's take a break. Not every day's as gorgeous as this. (She looks up at the beautiful clear skies through the branches of the beech tree, her long red hair trailing down on the grass).
REMUS: Well, if Lily's not studying, then I'm not either.
MARLENE: Ooooo, when did we become friends with such rebels?
The seven friends laugh together as they gaze out onto the clear surface of the water, glistening in the light of the bright afternoon sun.
