INTRO-
Leilas POV
The suns rays shine brilliantly down on me and make me smile. Summer was coming and I couldn't be happier.
"You know, I think Jordan likes you."
Ramona, my best friend, blabbers while shoving a handful of chips into her mouth.
I take a swig of my grape soda to hide my smile but ask. "Why's that?"
She rolls her eyes at me. "Seriously Leila? You guys are always staring at each other and yesterday he asked if he could borrow a pencil! A pencil!" She shouts, acting as if Jordan liking me was the most obvious thing ever.
I wouldn't admit it to her, but I did hope she was right. "Come on Mona, you know he probably actually needed a pencil, you think too much into things!"
Her eyes go wide and she nearly chokes on her barbecue chips. "Is that why he's walking over here right now?!"
I shove her shoulder playfully and take a bite of my sandwich. "Is not-" I began but am cut off by someone tapping my shoulder. I gulp down the large bite of sandwich nervously before turning around. Ramona was right. There was Jordan, standing behind me in all his glory.
I swallow again and take in his beautiful features, tall, built, tanned, dark brown hair and pale green eyes. He clears his throat. "Hey, Leila."
My cheeks flush pink at having him catch me staring. I looked at the ground and tuck a lock of hair behind my ear.
"Hey, Jordan."
He glances at Ramona quickly then looks at me again,"I uh was wondering-" I look up at him and see that he looks slightly, nervous? He smiles and shakes his head. "I was wondering if you had any plans on Friday night?"
My heart stops and I am mentally squealing. Jordan Devall wants to know if I have plans?! The star of the lacrosse team! The most popular guy in school wants to go out with me?
"Play it cool, Leila!" I internally scold myself, willing my shoulders to relax. I smile softly and shrug. "I don't think so, why?"
His smile grows bigger, making my insides melt. "Well if you're not busy, do you think you'd want to hang out?"
I try hard to keep my breathing calm, why was he asking me to hang out? I hate to say it, but me and Ramona were nobodies. Jordan DeVell was like royalty to us. He couldn't possibly be serious! "Play it cool, play it cool, play it cool." I chant to myself.
"With you?" I ask with feigned curiosity.
He chuckles but nods his head. "Yeah, with me."
I quickly glance behind me at Ramona and see her staring at us, wide eyed in shock. I giggle and look back at Jordan. I slowly my head and surely have a coy smile. "Sure."
He lets out a breath and laugh nervously. "Pick you up at 7?"
"Okay."
He beams at me and states "Kay, cool. I'll get your number in 6th?"
My heart skips numerous beats. "Alright!"
He gives me a quick side-hug before going back over to his friends. When he was far enough away, I slowly turn around and look at Mona.
"Jordan DeVell just asked you out. THEE Jordan DeVell." She whispers in shock.
We grab each others hands and "eep" with a giddy excitement. "This almost doesn't seem real!" I ponder aloud.
Mona squeezes my arm. "Leila I'm so happy for you!" I grin and take another welcome sip of my soda to calm me down, Jordan DeVell just asked me out. I must be dreaming.
•Jordans POV•
I walk back over to the guys and they all burst out laughing, Trent 'whoops' and smacks his hand on my back.
"Get turned down, Player?"
I shake my head. "What do you think? She was like putty in my hands!"
Brad laughs and takes a quick glance at the schools nobodies. "If you get into Leila Grizzels pants by next Friday, that money is yours!"
I roll my eyes and offer him my hand, Palm side up. "You might as well pay up now!"
Trent bursts out laughing and high fives me.
"A little cocky, are we?" Brad chuckles, raising a knowing brow.
I shrug and state. "Easy as 1-2-3. Bet-cha I take her V-card THIS Friday!"
Trent chugs his gatorade. "I don't doubt you, after all-" He does the bro-shake with me and states.
"You're the man!"
