Hes The Man -Part 31-

~Leilas POV~

I pulled my sleeves over my hands and held back a shiver.

"Are you cold?"

My teeth chattered slightly as I looked up from my icecream to smile at Damon.

"No..its just like 45 degree weather outside and you took me for icecream"

He shrugged and dipped his spoon into the strawberry swirled mountain.

"It seemed like a good idea at the time."

I giggled and looked out the window then back at him. "What time? When it got all cloudy and started raining sheets or when you pushed me into that puddle of water?"

We both laughed as he shook his head with a grin,"Hey I didnt push you, you fell!!"

I gasped and pointed to my still damp jeans,"So how do you explain this?!"

He smirked while chuckling at my exasperated expression.

"You falling into a puddle of water..?"

It was quite until we both burst out laughing.

"You're unbelievable." I stated with a sly smile.

Damon shook his head and watched me take a bite of my rocky road icecream.

"So are you."

I tilted my head to the side. "No im not, I'm actually pretty 'believable'...if that makes sence."

Damon smirked at my puzzled expression. I watched the tiny droplets of water in his hair with a smile, they made it appear a few shades darker.

He sighed breaking me out of my trance.

"Im not so sure. You're pretty hard to read if you ask me."

I smiled proudly. "Thats a good thing."

He chuckled and took his turn being curious,"How so?"

I giggled and met his eyes,"I'm not meant to be read or understood. I like being unpredicatable."

He shook his head with a laugh,"You're so weird"

I shoved his shoulder teasingly,"You're a jerk Damon Reed."

We both laughed. I felt happy, for once I finally felt free, like a teenager.

I gasped feeling surprised when he grabbed my hand before I could pull it back and smiled at me.

"I never said I didnt like it" My giggly mood slowly vanished as he watched me carefully. "You're beautiful."

I smiled shyly and ducked my head feeling the pink blush already spreading throughout my cheeks. I felt his eyes on me and was shocked when I felt his finger under my chin gently forcing me to look up at him.

"I dont think anyone tells you enough."

I raised my eyebrow at him suspiciously as he studied my face.

"Tells me what?"

A cute smile spread across his cheeks.

"How perfect you are"

I swallowed suddenly feeling nervous as he gazed at me with his brown eyes. I wanted to look away but something kept me grounded. He let out a loud sigh as the moment was broken when his phone began to ring.

We both looked at it as it vibrated wildly, rattling loudly on the metal table. The caller i.d. Read *****

I looked up at Damon questioningly the same time he looked at me seeming...guilty?

He quickly snatched his phone off the table and stood up.

"Im sorry, I-uh...I have to take this"

I nooded my head and looked away awkwardly.

"Go ahead."

He shot me a quick apologetic smile before turning around and walking towards the other side of the ice cream shop.

I sighed and rested my elbows on the table, gazing outside where rain swirled down wildly. For some reason which was beyond me the AC was blowing softly out of the vents making me shiver.

I bit my lip suddenly feeling...nervous?

I looked towards the bathrooms but didnt see anyone. I sat up straighter and quickly looked behind me, Damon was pacing, talking to someone in a hushed tone.

I didnt pay much attention to him as panic quickly started to fill me, I couldnt shake the gross feeling that someone was watching me. It was one I was unfortunately familiar with but hadn't experienced for awhile.

It was right after Sean died when they started to happen.

These panic attacks.

I would be somewhere, at the movies with Ramona or grocery shopping with my mom, when suddenly I would feel eyes on me; his eyes.

The air would suddenly become thick and my lungs would start working over time trying to help me breathe.

I shook my head no and abruptly stood up, this couldnt be happening again. He was gone, I don't think I would be able to handle it if he came back.

But somewhere in me I knew he would, I knew he'd be back for me.

I looked around wildly searching for where he could be when suddenly my eyes landed on a dark shadow across the parking lot.

He was just standing there.

In the middle of the street completely oblivious to the rain. He had on a black jacket and looked to be holding something to his ear.

My breathing became quivery and tiny black dots quickly began to block my vision.

I started backing up but couldn't take my eyes off of him. I had the sick feeling that my one of my many repeated nightmares was finally coming true.

I needed help, I needed to tell someone but my voice didnt seem to work and my eyes were unmoving.

This couldnt be real.

Someone grabbed my arm making me let out a blood curdling scream. Right before I past out I caught sight of Damons worried gaze shouting words I couldnt understand.

My worst fears were finally becoming a reality.

He Was Back.
