He's The Man

~Leilas POV~

I shiver as the nights cool wind wraps itself around me and quietly whistles in my ears, I hold my hands up to my arms, trying to rid the goosebumps that are forming all over me.

"Cold?" Jordan asks while walking next to me.

We're making our way towards the booming loud music and the huge bon fire I can just make out in the distance.

I sigh my high heels sink into the sand everytime I take a step, stupid Mona insisted on me wearing these heels, and this dumb dress.

"No, Its just...chilly out here." My teeth involuntarily chatter and I fold my arms tighter trying to trap some warmth.

"Leila if you're cold you can wear my jacket, Its no problem."

I begin to protest, but before I can say no, he's already pulling off his hoodie and handing it to me. He helps usher me into and rolls up each sleeve for me seeing as they are far too long.

"Better?" He asks, giving me a cute smile. "Much. Thank you." I giggle.

"What kind of gentleman would I be if I let you freeze?" I roll eyes and we both burst out laughing.

I grin as I catch my breath and lower my gaze to the ground. "Can I ask you something?" He says.

I look up at him and can just make out the green in his eyes.

"More questions?"

He shrugs. "Well it is a date right?"

I blush but, nod my head.

"I wanna find out as much as possible about the famous 'Leila Grizzel' before our night is over."

I laugh and hold my hand up to my chest. "Well I'm flattered. Ask away!"

He 'hmms' and taps his index finger to his chin. "Whats your favorite color?"

I smile and don't hesitate when I say. "Purple."

He nods, feigning over interest.

I laugh and he goes on. "Whats your favorite movie?"

I grin and take a moment to think. "Charlie Saint Cloud."

His smile is excited and I can't help but mimic it. "Really?"

I nod and he lets out a chuckle. "My little sister is in love with that movie! Weird I know, but she's been a Zac Efron fan ever since Highschool Musical came out."

I beam and link my arm with his playfully. "Finally!" I nearly shout.

He looks down at me with a soft smile. "Finally what?"

I sigh in satisfaction. "I think thats the first thing I've learned about you, you have a little sister."

His smile shrinks slightly and I immediately regret pointing it out until he brightens up and says. "Well her names Kendall. Now thats two things you know about me. I have a little sister, and her name is Kendall."

My smile grows bigger if possible and I squeeze myself tighter to him, resting my head on his arm.

"Tell me about her?"

~Jordans POV~

I freeze and kinda tense up.

Kendall is a sensitive subject. I love that kid, with all of my heart. She's only thing I care about in this world and I don't know how I felt talking about her with some girl. But then again, Leila didn't seem like just some girl.

For some reason I felt like I could trust her...so I did.

"Well Kendall, she-shes amazing."

Leila looks up at me and smiles, urging me to go on.

"She has soft blonde curls and the most beautiful blue eyes you will ever see in your life time, guaranteed. She looks nothing like, but that's what I love about her. She's the best part of me. Ken, she's so happy all the time and warm. She's never known the world to be anything but kind and she looks for the best in everyone."

"She sounds great." I smile and as Leila snuggles deeper into my side.

My side...that was the first time I noticed that my arm was casually slung around her and her arm was around me, well my waist.

For a second I stop walking, causing her to stop as well and look up at me. "You alright, Jordan?"

I think about it, was I okay with it? I can feel her petite body pressed up against mine and can still feel her slightly shivering.

After a second I nod and let out a chuckle, pulling her closer to me. "Im fine."

She grins and we begin walking again. "Please, don't stop there! Tell me more about her, she sounds awesome."

I laugh, but have to nod in agreement,"Well, shes-" I slowly trail off and once again I stop walking.

Im frozen completely in my tracks. We had finally made it to the outskirts of the beach party/bon fire and I recognize a lot of people from my school, one black haired, green eyed girl in particular catches my eye though.

"Jordan? Whats the matter now?" Leila asks me.

I drop my arm from her shoulder as a hard scowl takes over to cover the pain.

After all these years and she still has the same affect on me.

After a moment, she makes eye contact with me and waves me over. When I stay in my place she rolls her eyes and walks towards me, her skirt leaves little to the imagination and her shirt can barely be called a shirt...

"Hey, Mr. Stranger!"

I swallow and look away from her. Shes holding a red plastic cup and her black hair is swept into a side pony tail. "So we don't say 'Hi' now?" She teases.

I sigh and finally make eye contact with the girl I always try so hard to ignore, the one that broke my heart.

"Hi Valerie."
