He's The Man
~Jordans POV~
I stare at the photo for a moment longer before frowning.
After all this time my heart still races and my nerves still go haywire when seeing Valeries face. She was beautiful back then and is still beautiful now. They say you never stop caring about your first love and I guess they're right.
Because just seeing this picture brings the tiniest ache back into my heart. I was a lot of things as a kid. Young, spontaneous, and hopelessly in love with the supposed 'girl of my dreams'. But over all those things I was stupid.
Stupid to believe in love, and stupid to believe in 'happy endings'. Girls are heartless. Over the years Ive taught myself to be just like them. That night I vowed to never fall in love again. That reminded me.
I sigh and walk over to my bed, picking up my cellphone, I scroll down my list of hundreds of contacts until I finally find her name. Leila.
I quickly typed a simple 'Hey(:' and push send. Time to forget Valerie and start getting serious with this bet.
~Leilas POV~
I stare at Ramona, clutching my stomache, I wipe a tear from my eye. "Oh, shut up Leila!!" She screeches at me. "Stop laughing and help me get this stupid thing off!"
I take some deep breaths trying to calm down and finally breathe out. "Let me just get ONE picture Mona . Please!"
She glares daggers into my back as I skip into the bathroom to retrieve my phone. We had been going through my old clothes from middle school and found my crayon costume from Halloween a couple years ago. After much persuasion I had forced her to put it on.
It was about two sizes too small, but Mona, being Mona, was determined to squeeze into it and had gotten stuck with one of her arms through the sleeve hole and one sticking straight up in the air.
I snatch my phone off the sink and run back into my room. I let out another giggle at seeing Mona stuck in such an awkward position. "Could you be any slower Leila?"
I nod and start walking towards her in slow motion. "You're so stupid!"
I burst out laughing and start walking normal again. "Come on, Ro. Its not like you have anything better to do."
She scowls and is about to protest when I let out a shriek. "Ohmygosh!"
Ramona frowns. "Do I really look that bad?"
I had raised my phone up to take a picture of her. When I had pushed the unlock button my screen glowed with the words 'One Unread Message'
The number wasn't entered as one of my contacts so I automatically assume its Jordan. "Whats wrong, Lay? You look like a toddler on crack."
I roll my eyes at her and 'eep'. "Jordan DeVall just texted me!"
She stops laughing right then and screams too. She runs towards me and looks down at my screen. "Hey?"
I smile and nod my head like an idiot. "Hey, WITH a smiley face!"
A grin breaks out across her face and she sighs "Aw Leila. He's soo perfect for you! If only we could rid him of his awful friends." She makes a face as if she's tasted something sour before flashing me her signature grin.
I smile as well and plop down on my bed. My heart thumps wildly and my insides churn. "I feel like he's different from the rest Mona. He approached me in front of everyone. That has got to say something."
She beams and sits next to me, her arm still sticking up in the air and body squeezed into the old costume.
I giggle at her but she ignores me and squeals. "Of course he's different from the rest Leila! He's Jordan DeVall!"
