Hes The Man -Part 23-
~Jordans POV~
I groaned as we pulled up to a stop light and turned to the girl next to me.
"Ramona!!" I shouted.
She stopped talking and looked at me with a raised eyebrow.
"Yes?"
I ran my fingers through my hair feeling slightly annoyed,"Do you ever STOP talking?!"
She scowled at me and opened her mouth to say something but I quickly turned the radio up loud to tune her out. She had been non stop blabbering about absolutely Nothing for the past 15 minutes and even that was almost too much to handle.
I have No idea how Leila put up with the girl. I sighed feeling slightly relieved as we pulled up to Ihop. I turned and looked at a scowling Ramona who had her arms crossed and was turned looking away from me.
"Lets go drama queen." I muttered as I opened my door and got out.
I heard her quickly get out too and power walk until she was standing next to me.
"You know Jordan, I dont appreciate you interuppting my story back there. Inplus having your music up that loud in the car can damage your ears or even your radio-"
I opened the door for her rolling my eyes as she nodded her head in thanks, not daring to stop talking.
"You know I should really start calling you Chatty because thats ALL you seem to ever do!"
She glared at me but went on as I led the way to the waitress stand. I chuckled at her ability to constantly keep talking and mumbled,"Table for two-"
I looked back at Ramona and sighed,"Preferably in the back, somewhere we wont be seen."
She smiled but looked kinda confused as she led us over to a booth in the very back of the restaurant. After she seated and handed us our menus, I was reading over the list of waffles when I noticed it was quiet.
Ramona wasnt talking.
I glanced up at her to see her starring at me expectantly, I quickly looked back down. Acting as if I hadnt caught her questioning gaze.
"Well?" she asked.
I sighed and looked up at her,"Well what?"
She set her menu down and crossed her arms on the table.
"Jordan. You obviously didn't take me here so we could get breakfast. Tell me about Lei-"
"You dont have to say her name every other sentence." I snapped.
She didn't say anything, just gestured with her eyes for me to go on. I put my menu down to before looking at her.
"Fine. You wanna know why I'm giving up on- her?" I avoided saying her name and looked at Ramona who eagerly nodded her head. "Well...to put it simply. I cant give her what she wants. Or more importantly what she Needs."
Ramona tilted her head to the side, her face becoming serious,"What do you mean?"
I looked down at the table for a long moment before meeting Ramonas gaze. "Ramona, Leilas...Shes really special to me. She makes me want to be better. A better person. I've only known her for a short period of time, but in that time I've realized that she deserves...everything."
She looked at me with an expressionless face, like she was thinking really hard.
"Shes not just another Date and dump like everyone seems to think. She's...she's perfect. I don't know really how to explain it. But what I do know is that she deserves the best and I can't be that for her right now. She needs stability and normal, and lets be honest Ramona. Im neither of the two. I really wish I was but Im not, and thats the end of that. Shes needs to be happy and I dont think thats what I'm making her."
Ramona didnt say anything and a silence fell over us, the waitress came back and took our orders before leaving us again to the tension filled quiet. She finally sighed before looking at me.
"Well...I guess I under estimated you."
I frowned. "What do you mean?"
She laughed and did a little shrug. "I mean, to me, You've always seemed like a heartless, hard headed, Lacrosse player who slept with a lot of girls and had jerks for friends. While I was right about the majority of what I think-" I scowled at her she simply shrugged,"You're still hard headed and have many, many jerks for friends but...You're not completely heartless."
I chuckled and stated sarcastically,"Well thank you Ramona."
She smiled. "You're welcome. But let me ask you something."
I scoffed and rolled my eyes,"Oh great."
She shook her head and continued,"Its not all bad. Im just wondering, what made you want Leila? Like...out of all the girls in the school, why did you choose to date her?"
I froze...Oh shit.
I couldnt tell her about the bet, there's no way! Ramona was tiny but from the looks of her long manicured nails, this chick could do damage.
I thought quickly but before I could answer she quickly added,"I mean...You're Jordan Devall. You're popular, most likely our next prom king, but more importantly-you can any girl you want. But you asked out Leila? Im not degrading her or anything but we're not exactly in Valerie Michaels circle either."
I froze at the mentioning of Valeries name.
Seriously?
Ramona knew all the wrong things to say and ask.
I rolled my eyes before deciding,"You know, Ive already told you more than enough. Maybe someother time in the Far, far away future I'll tell you more but for now its my turn to ask you questions."
She shrugged,"Go for it."
I smirked and shook my head. "Alright. Why and how did you and Leila become friends?"
Ramona bit her lip while she thought before saying,"Well, I was always really good friends with Sean, her twin. Whenever I was over at his house I would run into her every now and then. After he...You know...I figured me and Leila could both use a friend. We kind of leaned on eachother."
I frowned.
It seemed like there was a lot more behind the whole Sean thing than people let on, but for right now I would leave it alone.
"Ok, ok enough with the twenty quesions lets change the subject."
Ramona smirked as the waitress came and set our breakdast down in front of us.
"Oh but one more thing Jordan."
I raised my eyebrow at her while beginning to cut up my waffles.
"Yeah?"
She took a bite of her french toast and stated. "Breakfasts on you."
She smirked at me. I just laughed and shook my head.
"Whatever you say chatty."
