Hes The Man -Part 25-
~Jordans POV~
I watched as the stranger nodded his head and walked towards me with a smug grin.
"I knew you would recognize me, Runt!"
I scowled at him. "Dont call me that."
He held up his hands in defense but kept walking towards me. "Alright, alright. I hear you man."
I just nodded my head and watched him carefully as he came to a stop about a foot away from me.
"So whats been up little Jay?" He kept a friendly smile aimed at me.
I never really liked him or ever really got a long with him, he had always put himself on a pedastool and acted as if he was better than me.
Now he randomly shows up here acting as if we're long time friends?
I shrugged and shifted my lacrosse stick to my other hand. "You know, just...school and stuff. Been busy."
He nodded his head in understanding. "Yeah school and stuff always sucks."
I kind of grunted as an answer and lazily waved my hand. "Well...yeah. See you around man."
I turned and walked towards the front door, I was unlocking it when I felt his breath on the back of my neck.
"Whoa what the hell bro!?" I shouted as I turned around.
He immediately backed up but couldn't stop himself from laughing.
"Seriously dude whats your problem?!"
Jacob was bent over laughing and clutching his stomache. I glared at him until he stopped and stood up straight but was still bighting his lip trying not to chuckle.
"I'm sorry dude. I remember you used to think that was hilarious when me and Sean would do that!"
I flinched at the sound of Seans name, how was it that he was able to talk about him so normally? After he was murdered no one was able to say his name without crying even after all this time, especially since his killer was never found.
"Yeah you were a real asshole back then."
I turned to go in but his hand quickly landed on my shoulder.
"Wait Jordan, hold up."
I turned and looked at him with an irritated sigh. "What?"
He had a sincere smile when he said,"Hey, I know we were never really that close, but I've missed this town, the people...my life." He sighed and made eye contact with me. "How about you invite me inside and you can tell me all about the drama and scandals that have happend since I've left."
He staired at me with a huge grin, it felt awkward saying no...I rolled my eyes and pushed the door open. "Fine, come in."
He smiled and walked in ahead of me. I shut the door and threw my duffle on the floor.
"You hungry man?" He nodded but was content on looking at the family pictures that hung on the wall in the hallway.
I walked towards the kitchen and smiled as I saw Kendall sitting on the couch watching her cartoons. A frown fellover my face as I realized, mom had probably left her alone for atleast ten minutes.
Damn that baby sitter.
I grabbed the stuff to make sandwiches out of the cabinet right as Jake walked into the kitchen.
"So how've you been bro?"
I shrugged. "Pretty good. Same old boring town."
He was silent for a second before looking up at me and asking. "How has Leila been?"
I froze.
The only audible sound was Kendalls cartoons playing in the front room. He looked at me with a serious almost glaring expression. I swallowed as I realized how awkward this really was.
I had just kinda 'broken up' with Leila and here was her long time ex-love sitting in my kitchen.
The guy I used to hate was here waiting for an answer about the only girl besides my sister that I currently cared about.
He cleared his throat impatiently, snapping me out of my thoughts. I turned away from him and grabbed a jug of juice from the fridge.
"Shes uh...Shes fine."
I poured two glasses before he asked.
"Is she seeing anyone?"
I laughed nervously at the thick atmosphere and the weirdness of the entire situation. I decided to play it stupid since he wouldn't know any different.
Why make it more awkward if it wasn't necessary?
I shrugged and let out a little chuckle.
"How should I know?"
He shot me a questioning glance but something told me to lie.
"After um....you know, Seans death and your-" I gestured towards him. "Disappearing, she kinda fell off the face of the earth."
He smiled at me,"Really?"
His tone was excited and his eyes held mischief.
I frowned at him. "Its not really a good thing."
He tilted his head. "So you guys don't talk?"
I pursed my lips and shook my head no. Just lie. Something in my gut was telling me that not telling him the truth was better, it would help Leila somehow.
Jacob suddenly stood up and grinned at me. "You know I think we can actually be really good friends Jay. You've changed."
I raised an eyebrow at him. "How so?"
He grabbed the plate with his sandwich and picked up his cup of juice. "Last I remember,"
He began walking towards the living room but called over his shoulder.
"You weren't a liar."
