Hes The Man -Part 9-
~Jordans POV~
It was nearly impossible to wipe to smile off my face as I drove Leila back to her house.
"Well thanks for having dinner with me I guess...Im sorry we couldnt stay long at the bonfire."
Leila shook her head and let out a quiet sigh,"Its ok, dinner was nice."
I looked at her from the corner of my eye and got an idea,"Hey I have a question?"
She looked at me curiously. "Yeah?"
I smiled and made eye contact with her,"What time do you have to be home?"
Leila looked at me suspiciously,"Not for awhile I guess...why?"
I smiled and made a sharp U-turn,"Okay, then you're coming with me!"
She giggled and rolled her eyes,"Im gonna ignore how incredibly creepy that sounded and just say...ok."
I smiled at her before directing my gaze back at the road,"I dont think you had much of a choice"
She laughed before leaning back on her seat,"Well thats also true, But anyways. Where are you taking me Mr. DeVall?"
I side smiled,"Grover Park"
"I hear the Sun Rise is beautiful from over there"
I chuckled,"Exactly the reason why were going."
Leilas eyes widend and she let out a small gasp,"We're staying out all night?"
I grinned and looked at her questioningly,"Unless you have to be home?"
She had a thoughtful expression for a second and finally looked up at me with an unsure smile,"I can stay out as long as I want."
I nodded and flashed her a smile,"Good. Because I dont want you to go home yet"
She smiled softly at me and tucked some hair behind her ear,"Good. Because I dont want to go home yet"
I could barely make out a blush on her pale cheeks.
I smiled to myself and let the comfortable silence take over. My phone beeped with one new message but I ignored it and just let the moment be. It went off two more times and finally I sighed and pulled out at a stop light.
I saw Leilas smirk and chuckled,"Well arent you popular tonight?" She teased.
I shrugged and let out a sigh,"Apparently!"
She smiled and looked out her window and up at the moon.
I was still smiling when I looked down at my phone clicking on the tiny Mailbox icon. One from Mom and three from Trent.
I clicked on the one from Mom first.
'Working late. Tell Ken's babysitter ill pay her double'
I sighed and replied 'Ok' Before clicking on the messages from Trent.
'You coming Man?'
'Where are you?'
And finally.
'Valerie told me you left with Leila?! Ill tell Bret it's time to pay up! Be safe haha'
I re-read the text over and over. The bet resurfacing in my mind,"You gonna go?" Leila laughed.
I looked up, the streets were deserted. My car was the only one waiting at the light, I quickly glanced down at my phone trying to decide what I was going to do,"Jordan?"
I looked at it for a second longer before clicking Options and then Delete All.
I smiled when my Inbox flashed with Zero messages before turning my phone off.
"Sorry, momentarily pre-occupied!"
Leila giggled and said,"Well are you okay now?"
I nodded my head and smiled softly at her. "Im fine"
I stepped on the gas and threw my phone in the back seat, forgetting the bet and Leilas last name.
