Hes The Man -Part 40-
~Leilas POV~
I ran.
I ran as fast and as hard as my legs would carry me. I tried not to acknowledge the blood that was making a steady trail down my cheek and tried hard to focus on life.
Getting away would mean Jacob couldnt have me. It would prove I didnt belong to him and that I was free, his hold over me, all the nightmares he'd so effortlessly left me with, and the scars of my brothers death didnt have the affect on me that they use to.
It meant he didnt own me.
That gave me the motivation to push myself and ignore the pain so that I could escape this cruel dream. My heart picked up pace when I felt his fingers lightly brush my back as he tried to grab me,"Stop running Leila!!"
I let out a shrill scream when his breaths felt like they were on the back of my neck, he was too close. I could barely make out a black strip of road in the distance. We were still hidden behind the trees but the bright yellow stripes marking the street gave away its place and begged me to go faster.
My tiny seed of hope grew bigger but vanished when I gasped, the wind was abruptly knocked out of me as suddenly I was falling.
Jacob had launched himself on me and we were now tumbling threw fallen leaves and broken twigs. His arms were quick to wrap around me from behind and restrain my own,"Let go of me!!" I screamed, squirming and thrashing around frantically.
I was so close to the road and felt as if thats where I needed to be. Jacob flipped us over so I was on my stomache and my hurt cheek was roughly being pressed into the dirt, he held my arms behind my back and took deep scattered breaths as he tried to regain his composure,"I dont want to hurt you Leila-" He cooed while using his free hand to brush my hair out of my face,"I never want to hurt you."
Tears made a steady trail down my cheeks as I bit my lip trying not to cry out loud,"Now if I get off you are you going to run?"
I sniffled and thought about my options. If I began running again he was already close to me so my chances of being caught again were even bigger than before, but if I listened and went where ever he originally planned to take me my chances of coming back were slim to none.
I took a deep shaky breath and slowly shook my head no. He lightly chuckled and spoke softly when he said,"Good, Remember how I told you, you cant run from me. You're mine."
I said nothing as he carefully eased his way off of me and waited for me to stand up. I slowly outstretched my arms and grabbed a hand full of dirt, knowing fully well what is in there having spotted it earlier,"Do you want to know something Ive learned this passed three years you were gone-?" My voice came out ragged and tired sounding as I took my time standing up.
"Whats that baby?" He asked in an even tone.
I made sure to take a large step when getting up making sure to put about two feet of space between us. He had blood running down his cheek from where I had kicked him earlier but smiled at me expectantly, acting as if the last twenty minutes or three years had never happend.
I took a deep breath and cleared my throat, my hand gripped tightly around the dirt pile. I shook it gently and let the dirt loosely run through my fingers and fall to the ground, leaving only the smooth cold feel of the rock left in my hand,"I learned that-" My heart pounded wildly in my chest as I prepared for what I was about to do,"I dont belong to anyone!" I shouted as I threw the rock at him with as much strength as I could muster.
I didnt wait for a reaction and quickly turned around and ran as fast as I could to make it to the road. I blew past the trees and smiled inside when I could hear a car coming.
I couldnt see it yet but could hear as it sped down the street, I could only hope it would make an appearance before Jacob got to me again. It abruptly turned the corner the same time I broke through the line of trees,"Help me!!" I screamed as it came to a screeching stop.
~Jordans POV~
I ignored stop signs and sped threw yellow lights desperately needing the answers the questions in my mind craved. They raced through my head at a million miles an hour and made me angry with myself.
If I wouldve been more assertive or just refused to let Leila go out with him she wouldnt be missing right now. Hurt seeped into my mind as I remembered her basically rejecting me, she doesnt care, my memories whispered to me.
I could do nothing but shake my head and go on, she might not care but I do. She may need me wherever she is.
Ramona was gripping the door handle tightly and shouted,"Your going to get us in an accident!"
I had forgotten she was even in the car,"No im not." I said flatly.
"Where are we going?!" She hissed at me as we passed the sign reading 'Weaver Woods',"You really think we're going to find Leila around here?!"
I groaned in frusteration and looked at her annoyed,"No Ramona. I dont. Maybe if that brain of yours wasnt so tiny you would remember that the police station is on the other side of Weaver!!"
She scowled at me and spat,"Leilas mom already called the police! You cant report someone missing until after 42 hours!"
I rolled my eyes,"Im not going to report her missing. Im going report her being kidnapped."
Ramonas forehead creased in confusion,"Kidnapped? By who-?" Her voice was lost over the loud screech of the tires as I abruptly turned the corner.
She swatted my arm and scolded,"Slow down Jord-" She was once again cut off as I slammed on the breaks, the car making a loud squeaking protest at my sudden stop.
"Help me!!" The girl screamed as she ran towards my side of the car.
Ramona glared at me,"You couldve hit her!"
I glared back and shot,"She shouldnt be running in the middle of the street!!"
The girl banged on my window and shouted,"Please help me! Please!"
I looked over at Ramona confused as she gave me the same look. I opened my door and got out, looking the girls frantic form up and down, my eyes widend in disbelief as she too froze. This whole thing seemed unreal. I let out a shaky breath as I looked at her more closely.
"Leila?"
