Hes The Man -Part 24-

~Jordans POV~

I drove back to school with Ramona telling me yet again, another random story.

For most of the day she had been telling me stories about her and Leila. From what she told me, they were basically sisters. I smiled, Leila really needed someone like Ramona there for her.

"Hold that thought-" I mumbled as I pulled up into the school parking lot.

My phone was ringing loudly pulling my attention away from Ramonas story.

"Hello?" I asked as I unbuckled my seat belt.

"Jordan, Right after school I need you to come home!" I frowned at the panicked sound radiating from my moms voice.

"Mom whats wrong why?"

She sounded flustered and I could hear things being moved around in the backround.

"Kendalls babysitter just walked out on me. I have to leave for work in thirty minutes and no ones here to watch your sister!! You have to come home now!"

I pinched the bridge of my nose and sighed. "Mom! School doesn't get out for another 15 minutes! And I have lacrosse practice!"

"Well what do you propose we do Jay? Leave Kendall here to watch herself?"

I growled at the thought but also glared, if I missed Lacrosse practice more than twice-coach would bench me for fridays game and my chances of getting a scholarship would be slim to none.

"Mom can't you take her to work with you?"

She sighed,"Im working late tonight Jordan, you and me both know she can't come with me!"

I scowled at the steering wheel for a moment before blowing out a low breath of air in defeat.

"Alright fine. Ill be home in 20."

I hung up and leaned my head back on my seat while closing my eyes. It wasnt Kendalls fault that she was only six and couldnt stay home alone yet, it wasnt mom's fault that the babysitter decided to quit when we needed her most.

"Jordan whats wrong?" Ramona asked hesitantly.

I immediately sat up and opened my eyes. "I completely forgot you were here!"

She looked scared to ask but she did anyways.

"What happend?"

We stared at eachother for a minute, concern coating her eyes. I shook my head and frowned. "Nothing Ramona. Just-go back inside. I have to go."

I unlocked the doors but she just sat there and stared at me. "Jordan, if somethings wrong I can help you-"

I was already shaking my head before she even finished her sentence. "Its a lot more complicated than you think."

She tilted her head to the side and kept her gaze on me.

"I understand complicated-"

I scoffed. "Oh really Ramona, do you!? I think being the schools nobody isn't as hard as you make it out to be!!"

She looked hurt but she quickly covered it with a resentful scowl. "Fine. I just wanted to help but it's obvious you're too much of a hard headed jerk to realize that!"

She got out of the car and snatched her bag from the seat.

"Dont Slam My-!"

She didnt wait to listen and slammed the door hard anyways. I watched her walk back into school all the while keeping a hard glare on my face. Who does Ramona think she is?! Just because shes friends with Leila gives her no right to think shes the boss of me.

What made her think I would so easily hand over my life problems to her?

I sighed and shook my head, what a day.

I pulled up into the drive way and got out. I walked around the car and grabbed my duffle bag filled with my lacrosse gear and picked up my stick.

"Coach is gonna kill me." I mumbled under my breath.

"DeVall? Is that you?"

I turned around and looked at the unfamiliar man standing at the end of my driveway.

"Whos asking?"

The guy had on a grey hoodie and black nike sweatpants paired with Nike running shoes. One ear bud was still in his ear while the other hung loosely across his chest.

"Dont tell me you dont recognize me?!" He chuckled.

I studied his face but his hair was covered by the hoodie and his sweatshirt was up to his neck.

"Uhh nope." I shrugged and turned to go into the house.

"Haha well I barely recognize you either, you've grown so much since freshman year. Haven't you Runt?"

I slowly turned around to look at the stranger. I narrowed my eyes at him trying to remember. Only two boys have ever called me Runt, they liked to tease me by calling me that at practice, I was never the fastest or the best back then and they would make fun of me for it everyday, saying I was the downfall of the team.

I scoffed.

Man how times have changed, Now I was the best and captain of the Varsity team.

I shook my head trying to focus on the current situation, the only two boys that ever called me Runt was Sean Grizzel and Leilas old ex boyfriend.

The pieces slowly started to fall together in my mind, since Sean was dead then that meant it was...

"Jacob Formiller?"
