Hes The Man -Part 32-
~Damons POV~
I staired at Leila seemingly mesmorized.
Even though this was all fake and part of my 'task', as he liked to call it, I could see why he was so inlove with her; and why Jordan was practically crazy over her.
She was like nobody I'd seen before.
Her glossy brown hair was damp so her curls were softer now but still intact. Her nose was small and perfect just as her lips were full and naturally a delicate pink, the kind you cant help but want to kiss.
But it was her eyes that got me hooked, they were an amazing electric blue. The more I staired into them, which was never long because she would always turn away, I slowly started to feel something for her.
She was like an angel walking earth, as dumb as that sounds it was true. Leila Grizzel was the only girl I knew that could make the states physco utterly obsessed with her and the towns player willing to fall at her knees if it was what would make her smile.
I couldn't help but want to lean in and kiss her, that wasnt part of the 'task' but it seemed to fit the moment, even if He had strictly prohibited any touching.
I took a risk and went for her lips, knowing that he could very well be watching us right now.
I had already broken the rules and watched with a smile as she leaned her cheek into my hand.
Before I was even able to move the loud ring of my phone began to go off. I didnt break my gaze from her, silently wishing that the moment hadnt been ruined, but it was over as soon as her eyes darted away from mine and looked nervously at my phone which was still ringing loudly.
I sighed finally tearing my eyes away from her and looked down at my phone too. My blood ran cold when I saw the stars, *****.
He was calling me, almost as if it was right on que.
I froze anticipating my next move, but scowled. It was foolish of me to even think about liking Leila, being with her now was only because I was instructed to do so. Become close to her and then after enough time invite her over, there they would run away together like He said they had always planned.
It sickened me to think they were even involved and in some twisted way she knew about this.
I quickly grabbed my phone, somehow that didnt add up to me.
He said Leila was in on this plan but why wasn't I allowed to mention it to her or even speak of it? If she knew about it why did he have me sneaking around and trying to get closer to her? Why not simply just tell her its time, then they could go together.
Some part of me knew this whole thing was wrong but could do nothing to stop it, my family was on the line and I wouldn't jeopordize that for anyone.
I abruptly stood up, the metal chair making a loud screech in sudden protest,"Im sorry, I-uh...I have to take this" I said.
She turned away from me and nodded,"Go ahead."
I frowned before shooting her an apologetic smile and quickly walked towards the opposite side of the ice cream parlor we were in.
"What?!-" I demanded in an angry hushed tone.
"What did I tell you Damon" He asked icily.
Anger filled me, he may be calling the shots but I was nobodies puppet.
"You dont own me-"
"Damon." He called evenly, stopping me from talking.
I paced feeling frustrated, hating the feeling of being controlled.
"What did I tell you?" His tone was calm but I could practically feel how controlled it was.
I bunched my hand into a fist and spat,"No touching."
I could almost see his stupid little smirk.
"Exactly. But what are you doing?"
I stayed quiet, biting my tongue impossibly hard to fight the words that wanted to escape.
He sighed, sounding like a stressed out parent.
"Damon, what have I told you time and time again?" He left no room to answer and finished quickly. "We're all part of a plan."
I laughed humorlessly feeling disgusted.
"Yeah more like your sick, twisted, game with an innocent girl!"
He hushed me which angered me even further.
"Damon keep your voice down. You're disturbing Leila and shes looking flustered. She doesn't do well with stress."
I cocked my head backwards and scoffed,"No you listen to me you sick bastard-"
I turned and started pacing the other way.
"Im not your slave, so you dont tell me what to do!" I hissed angrily. "You dont know anything about Leila because if you did you would know shes crazy about that DeVall kid and probably wants nothing to do with you!"
His voice was deadly when he said,"Never say anything like that again, do you hear me? Leila will never love anyone but me, and I, her. Jordan DeVall can be disposed of easily just like your family. Dont forget who your working for."
My nostrils flared and my blood was pumping faster,"You leave them alone! You think I'm some dumb football player, but the naïve one is you!! Leila doesnt even know about 'The Plan' like you say, that much I can see."
I slumped down in one of the plastic red booths feeling helpless. The line was quiet, the only sound heard was his unsteady breathing.
I could imagine him shaking slightly, loosing his grip on control. I rubbed my forehead feeling stressed out. I looked up lazily and looked to where me and Leila were sitting.
Our table was empty but our icecreams still sat there unmoved, I narrowed my eyes feeling weary.
I looked around and quickly spotted her pressed up against the wall near the freezers of icecream.
I stood up slowly, simply snapping my phone shut ending the call.
"Leila?" I called out to her.
She didn't respond, just kept looking out the window with a panicked look in her eyes. I quickly started walking towards her quivering form.
"Leila are you alright?"
She ignored me and continued staring out the window of the parlor. The closer I got the more I noticed her hitched breathing. Her chest was moving up and down rapidly and her hands were shaking uncontrollably.
"Leila? Leila whats wrong?!"
She didnt move though. Just kept staring into the distance with silent tears quickly running down her cheeks.
"What happend?!"
I reached out to gently touch her arm. As soon as our skin made contact she let out an ear splitting scream. I looked behind me at the confused shop owner before quickly turning back to Leila.
"Leila, stop!!"
She swayed slightly on her feet before suddenly crumbling in my arms. Her body was still shaking but her eyes were closed.
I looked around feeling unsure of what do and shouted. "Somebody call 911!!!"
I held her close to me and looked around crazily for the cause of her outburst.
I stopped cold in my tracks, spotting Him standing outside the parlor.
He nodded once at me before turning and walking into the shadows.
