He's The Man
~Jordans POV~
I zip up my jacket and step out of the house, locking the front door behind me.
Tiny raindrops quietly spiral down from the sky and land on the concrete. I stare at the sidewalk as I walk and inhale deeply, I love the smell of rain. It was always calming to me, sort of relaxing.
It was around April when I discovered the truth about Valerie cheating. It had been constantly raining outside...I felt like the world was doing what I couldn't. I was never really good at showing my emotions.
After all I was forced to grow up faster than the average teen. My dad left when I was just 11. My mom had to get two jobs leaving me responsible for my little sister, Kendall most of the time. I wouldnt change it though. Kendall was the number one girl in my life, I wouldn't have it any other way.
I kicked a small pebble off the curb as I wait for her to arrive. My phone vibrates signaling 1 new text message from Leila. I sigh and pull my phone out from my pocket. We had been texting for about an hour now and she seemed pretty chill. I laugh as I read her newest message, she's actually kinda funny. I realize Im smiling at my phone and slowly lock it and put it in my pocket, deciding it's probably best not to reply. The first stage is smiling, talking constantly and making stupid jokes. This is around the time where you start getting attached.
I never let that happen to me with any girl and I wouldn't let that happen with Leila...especially NOT with Leila.
I sigh and look down the street, growing slightly impatient while waiting for the bus. This damned thing was always late.
I quickly step out of the way, a shiver runs down my back as a jogger swiftly runs past me, stirring up the wind surrounding me. My forehead creases as I looked after him, who runs in the rain?
My eyes continue to follow after him as he grows smaller, getting further and further away. Something looked familiar about him, I feel like I know him or have seen him before.
I jump as the loud -Honk Honk- of the bright yellow school bus pulls up and comes to a screeching stop.
The doors hiss as they open and tiny kids in rubber boots and raincoats quickly start to pour out of the bus. A smile spreads across my face as Kendall jumps down the stairs one at a time and hops off of the bus, making a huge splash in a puddle.
My hands are tucked in my pockets as she runs towards me and attaches herself to my leg. "Jordy!"
I chuckle and ruffle her soft blonde curls. "Hey Kiddo, how was school?"
She smiles up at me and shouts. "Soooo fun!" I take her hand and begin the short walk home. "Oh yeah?" She nods and begins to tell me the details of her day.
I listen but am broke out of my 'Kendall trance' when I feel my phone vibrate, yet again. Leila, I think. I frown and pull out my phone only to see Trents name on the screen.
I raise and eyebrow and click open.
'You comin' to the party tonight bro?'
I quickly type back. 'its Wednesday.'
I smile down at Kendall as she tugs on my hand. "Are you listening to me Jordy?!" I nod and let out a chuckle. "Of course!" She grins in content and waits patiently for me to unlock the door. "You hungry Ken?" I ask as I step in and kick off my shoes. "Starving!" She yells from the living room.
I laugh as I hear the cartoons go on and walk towards the food cabinet while reading a text from Trent. '
Obviously. Its a bonfire by Swansen Lake. Kinda like a chill kick back. Starts at 9.'
I nod my head while grabbing the peanut butter and walk over to the counter.
'Nice. I'm there.'
I began putting Kendalls lunch together and am suprised when my phone vibrates again.
I curiously unlock the screen and read the tiny words. I frown and reread the message again.
'Alright. Bring a date bro'
A date?
I ponder that for a second before taking out my phone and texting her.
'You busy tonight?'
