Hes The Man -Part 26-
~Leilas POV~
I waited all day and still no signs of Ramona.
I was going crazy with worry and the suspense was killing me! Ramona and I may not be the coolest people ever but one things for sure. Monas a girly girl and never and I mean NEVER goes anywhere without her purse or phone!
Class period after class period I searched for her but would come up ramona-less. She couldnt have just disappeared, shes never missed a day of school unless she was sick or out of town and even that was rare but to just leave without her things was crazy!
I was walking to eighth period with mine and Ramonas things crammed into my arms when someone tapped my shoulder.
My eyes widend with excitement at finally thinking Ramona was back but when I turned, it was Damon.
"Hey"
I tried to smile but my confusion of Ramonas disappearance swallowed me whole again.
"Please- try and contain your excitement Leila!" Damon teased.
I shook my head with a laugh,"No im sorry! I just have a ton on my mind and its hard to focus..."
He smiled down at me,"Well thats ok, Finals are coming up and everything I know your probably stressed"
I held a small smile and nodded but didn't say anything. He watched me before his eyes caught sight of all the things I was holding.
"You know there is a little thing called a locker. "
We both laughed and I sighed while looking at Mine and Ramonas things,"Yeah I know. Its just my friend kind of-disappeared into thin air and left all of her things."
He side smiled and held out his arms.
"Well let me help you."
I shook my head but before I could protest he was already taking the textbooks and Ramonas bag out of my arms.
"Its not a problem Leila, in plus; I like helping you."
I smiled shyly and could feel my cheeks turning a tinted pink, I was no longer used to boys flirting with me or even noticing me for that matter. "Thank you"
He nodded and gestured for me to keep walking to my original destination.
"So how are you?"
I looked up at him and shrugged.
"Im okay. Just kind of stressed you know?"
He nodded,"Yeah I underdstand. Studying for exams can be kind of back breaking."
I shook my head,"No its not really that. Lately things have just been...different."
Damon was quiet and looked thoughtful for a second.
"Leila can I ask you something?"
We came to a stop in front of my class and I nodded. "Sure"
He looked at me curiously.
"Did you and...Jordan have something going on?"
His question caught me by surprise. Mona randomly running off somewhere had been a good distraction but thoughts of Jordan rushed back into my head quicker than I realized. I didnt really know how to feel about him at this point, our short relationship was like a crazy rollercoaster ride. One thats fun and exciting but gives me doubts on how safe it is. I knew I liked Jordan, a lot, but there was really no guarantee that he wouldn't cheat on me or do something bad.
I frowned, I didnt know whether or not I could trust him, my heart was telling me I could but my head was telling me that he was bad news.
"You dont have to answer if you dont want to Leila."
I gasped completely forgetting about Damon standing here waiting for my answer. "Oh no, Im sorry! I just got caught up in my own little world for a second."
We both laughed but his eyes still burned for an answer to his question. I bit my lip and thought, Jordan would probably want me to deny any kind of relationship that I had with him to his friends. I didnt know if he thought of me as embarrassing or something.
I sighed, shaking my head and looking up at Damons curious face.
"No, me and Jordan dont even know eachother."
He smiled softly, his shoulders seemed to relax as his grin grew,"Oh. Ok cool. I was just making sure."
The shrill scream of the bell sounded and I looked behind me into the full classroom.
"Im sorry for making you late" Damon said.
The halls were empty now except for the random kid here and there running to their class.
I shook my head,"Its ok, Im sorry for making you late too"
He shrugged,"Its all good, I mean its not like I've never been late before."
I gasped. "But your new here! You've already been tardy?!"
"Hey! This school is actually pretty big, and not as easy to navigate as they say it is!"
I rolled my eyes playfully,"Yeah, yeah!"
He chuckled lightly and looked down the hall,"Well we better go before we get detention or something"
I smiled,"Yeah you're right"
He handed me Ramonas books and looked down at me before handing over her purse. "As much as I enjoyed sporting this 'I Love Pink' tote, here ya go"
I beamed at him and giggled. I turned and was about to walk into class when he stopped me.
"Hey Leila-" I stopped and turned to look at him.
"Yeah?"
He looked nervous and hesitant before he said. "Well since you're so...stressed. How about I take you out tonight to get your mind off things?"
I froze.
At first I only agreed to go out with him to get back at Jordan. But he actually seemed really sincere. I felt bad about saying yes without talking to Jordan but hey, an innocent night out as friends never hurt anyone?
I looked up at him and smiled softly.
"Sure."
He grinned and started walking slowly walking backwards. "Awesome. So I'll text you and pick you up at 5?"
I nodded. "5 is perfect!"
He disappeared down the hall and left me with a nervous smile on my face. I frowned, this wasnt considered cheating was it?
I mean afterall, Jordan liked playing games.
