Hes The Man -Part 39-
Jordans POV
Ramona nodded slowly but kept her eyes on me suspiciously,"What kind of bet?" I staired at her for a moment, the words refusing to leave my mouth. I dropped my gaze to the ground and said,"It all started off as kind've a joke really..Brad went first."
She glared at the mention of Brads name but said nothing,"The deal was that he had two weeks to get the girl we chose to sleep with him. If he succeeded before the given date then..more power to him."
Ramona was wearing a stone mask, her expression unreadable when she asked,"Which girl?"
I swallowed before stating,"Carolina Dane."
She remained silent and glared at the floor. I looked down too and said,"The next week was Trents turn. He made the same deal except this time we gave him Reina Astern-"
Ramona shook her head and interrupted,"I thought you said this was a bet? If theres no money involved it just sounds like a disgusting game to me." She spat the last words giving me a look of anger and disappointment.
I nodded,"Let me finish. Once..Trent was done. It was my turn. I refused to go and thought it was, like you said, a dumb game." I watched her carefully and spoke slowly,"I wasnt interested in playing until they involved money"
I let my words hang in the air, waiting to see if she had connected the dots yet. Her face seemed to pale but when she stayed quiet I sighed and went on,"Brad thought it was the only way to get me to play, him and Trent gave me one week to get the girl to sleep with me. If I did it he would give me 200 dollars."
The next part was hard for me to say. I was ashamed of myself but knew it was time to stop acting like the bet didnt happen and tell people the truth. "My girl was..it was-"
Ramonas eyes had watered up and a tear fell over. She quickly wiped it away and whispered,"Leila"
I nodded but said nothing, not knowing what To say. Ramona wiped both of her eyes angrily and shot me a death glare,"Your right. You dont deserve Leila. You and friends are a bunch of disgusting pigs."
She slammed the door hard and left me standing there in shock. Her words held anger and venom as she yelled at me for playing with her bestfriend.
It only served to make me feel worse, if thats how Ramona acted over the truth, I didnt even want to think about how Leila would take it. I quickly snapped out of it and ran after her, needing her to know why I was telling her all of this in the first place.
"Ramona!!" I yelled as she power walked down the sidewalk leading away from my house. She didnt stop and kept her head down as she walked quickly,"Will you just hear me out?!" I pleaded, needing her to know how much I regretted it and what they planned to do next.
She came to a stop when I planted myself infront of her, blocking her path,"Move!" She ground out, trying to manuveur around me, I shook my head and spoke quickly,"No. I need you to know that I regret every minute I was apart of it-"
She laughed humorlessly and scowled at me,"Awesome! Do you want a medal or something?"
"No! I just wanted you to know"
She scoffed and waved her hands in the air,"Well now I know!! But I really wish I didnt!"
I cocked my head backwards,"What why?"
She stopped trying to get around me and let out a shaky breath,"Because I cant tell her! It would break her heart!! Shes my bestfriend Jordan!! If she finds out I knew and didnt say anything, itll hurt her more than any of us will know!"
I nodded slowly in understanding. This whole thing was quickly spiraling out of control, I knew where Ramona was coming from when she didnt want to tell Leila. A part of me agreed but another part of me felt terrible for continuing to lie,"Theres one more thing-"
She immediately started shaking her head and sniffled while looking down,"Im good. Keep your secrets to yourself from now on."
I rolled my eyes and began,"You'll want to know this. Its about you."
She groaned and looked up at me,"God Jordan whats the matter with you?! What did me and Leila ever do to you to deserve all this-"
She got cut off when her phone started ringing loudly. She dropped her gaze and rummaged threw her bag with shaky hands. Not bothering to look at the caller I.D. She slid her phone open and demanded,"What?" Her tone was bitter and rude but she currently didnt care.
I watched her feeling kind of amused as her eyes opened wide in realization and she suddenly stood up straighter,"Oh Im sorry Mrs. Grizzel I didnt know it was you"
Her whole tone changed completely as she wiped her eyes and tucked her hair behind her ear acting as if Leilas mom was here watching us now. I chuckled before finally comprehending..she was talking to Leilas mom?!
I quickly shut up and stared at her as she shook her head with a frown,"Leila? No shes not with me"
She narrowed her eyes looking deep in thought and repeated,"No. Leilas not with me. I havent seen her all day."
I also narrowed my eyes as well as I watched Ramona talk to Ms. Grizzel. Why was she asking about Leila? "No she didnt sleep at my house last night? She wasnt at school today either-" Ramonas features quickly shifted to the stone mask again as she nodded her head,"No i'll call her. Im sure shes fine and probably at.." She trailed off, not thinking of a reasonable place Leila wouldve gone.
Tears began running down her cheeks again, not being able to hide her emotions anymore, worry spread over her face like a plague as her body tensed up as well,"Im not sure"
Her bottom lip started quivering and she shook her head once more,"Ok" She whispered. She didnt bother hanging up the phone and just let it fall to the side walk with a low clatter,"Ramona whats wrong?"
She staired into the distance with an empty gaze,"Whats the matter, wheres Leila?!" I grabbed both of her shoulders and shook her gently when she didnt answer me,"Tell me whats going on Ramona!!"
She looked into my eyes with the a look of fear and confusion,"Leilas missing."
We stood there for a second not saying anything. My heart dropped and the wheels in my brain seemed to be frozen. Leila...was missing? I shook my head, shock quickly leaving me as anger rushed in to takes its place,"No" I stated.
I grabbed Ramonas arm and dragged her along with me. I completely ignored my moms questioning gaze as she pulled up into the drive way, eyeing Ramona curiously. She opened her door and got out,"Jorda-?"
I didnt look at her as I unlocked my car opened the door for Ramona, practically forcing her stiff form to sit down and shouted back to her,"Kendalls inside!"
I got in and took off. Not waiting for a response or the ok to leave, I needed to find Leila and I needed to do it fast. Ramonas red eyes were watery and her voice broke when she asked,"What are you doing?"
I narrowed my eyes and continued to speed down the road determined to get the answers I needed now,"We're going to find Leila."
