Max's POV
David put me back down having the papers ready to go for tonight. He said he'll let me know when the interview is for him. I think I have to talk to them too? I don't know. But I'll do what I need for this to work.
"Whelp. I'm going back outside." He smiles looking down
"Are you gonna tell anyone, Max?"
"Uh, maybe? I might have them just find out Once we get there."
"Alright." He nods and we head outside once he organizes the papers that were strewn along the couch. Once she signed them she messed them up then dropped them. Then proceed to hit me. Bitch.
We head outside, I head back to where Gwen and Daniel were from teaching the activity. David had changed his mind about it, he decided that those two could teach sailing and he deals with me. Nikki was soaking, she must've accidentally tipped the boat, I look over at y/n and so is she.
"Hey, Max, where ya been?" Nikki says while Y/n walks over with a towel drying her hair.
"Talking with David." I shrug
"Who was that one lady?" She asks again "She kinda looked like you in a few ways-" She gasps "Was that your mother?" She whispers.
I nod "Sadly."
"It was? No wonder. Why was she here though?" Y/n butts in."
"Reasons that you'll find out for. Either me telling, or you find out in a few weeks."
"Oh oh! Will I know?" I think for a second, of who David said.
"Yeah, you'll know in a few weeks." I nod "Oh and Y/n, David kept talking about something and mentioned you live like, right across the street from him?" Just want to make sure.
"Hm? Oh? Uh yeah, I'd be outside and I'd see him once and a while driving to work. But yeah, like directly across the street." Where would David be working, never thought about it. Why would I? Watch him be a teacher or a school counselor. Well, I can see him as one. Hope not. "Why are you asking??" She looks at me with a weird look.
"Nothin', just wondering." Yeah, she'll find out once the summer camp is over, which is either in a week or two. I should check that.
"Uh, alright?" I think she's confused on why I asked. Oh well, soon enough she'll know why I asked, and why I disappeared but that's only for the ones who noticed. Whaaatever.
"So," I smirk, "How was sailing?"
"GREAT!" Nikki says excitedly
"Could've been better, Nikki tipped the boat when she saw a turtle."
"I couldn't tell which turtle type it was and I wanted to find out if it was a snapping turtle." She jumps and balls her hands into fists from excitement.
"Gladly it wasn't, feel like that'd be less painful the what happened this summer so far." She put the towel on her arm, there was still a few scars from them.
"Yeah, I'm sure it'd still hurt like hell though."
"Of course it would, it wouldn't want to let go," Nikki adds Y/n shakes her head not wanting to think of it.
"How'd Neil do?" I ask going back to the sailing subject.
"He probably did the best, he was with Space-kid so maybe he just wanted to get out of the boat unless he actually did well with him. Wouldn't doubt it." Y/n Says shrugging.
"Maybe but they did well which is kinda surprising. Oh well." I got bored of the conversation.
Y/n walks off giving the towel back to Gwen I stick around Nikki
"So Max what's up?"
"Hm? Oh, nothing really."
"Then why did David just vanish with you? Why was David following her to her car? Why was she even here?" Questions questions.
"Ugh don't refer to that. She's just not my mother anymore." I cross my arms shrugging wasn't too much of a big deal for me.
"Why not?"
"Could you not ask so many questions?"
"Fine fine but could you still answer it?"
"Answer what?" Y/n walks back over.
"Not anymore." I say, I don't want to repeat it, and I mean what am I saying, it's not a big deal but it is still there and still bothering me. So the only person I'll talk to is one of the real counselors about it
"Ah man come on Max," Nikki says in a whining voice.
"Nope." And I walk over to Gwen.
"Hey, what's up kid, how you doing?"
"Eh could be better. But it kinda is."
"What happened?" She refers to what happened in the cabin.
"Not now, too many people and are you sure David will tell you as well if he's already told you about my mother coming here and everything and the papers. He said he's sending them back tonight and that he'll tell me when the interview for him is, I think I have to go at some point but I'm not sure?"
"She nods, "Yeah he probably will, he tells me everything, I'm like an outlet for him, he tells me what he wants, especially if he needs to calm down over something."
"Huh, that, that's actually really nice of you Gwen."
"Yup, you should try it some time." I look up at her and give a slight glare, I have been nice this summer, maybe not to everyone, but to only people I like.
"I have been."
"I know, I was only messing with you, Max. Now I gotta get these campers back over here to do whatever they want to do. It' already four, your super will be ready soon." I nod and wander away, wondering what to do next. I should probably relax or at least lay down in my tent for a while. So, I do so.
Time Skip
David's POV
I go over to Gwen after she gets all of the kids back on land, I tell everything that had happened today with Max's parent. I let her know that I was going into town to give the papers in, and know when the interview was. She nodded and said that I could do it now before they ate.
So I drive into town and go to the building and do what I need to do. I had in the papers to the person I need to talk to. He lets me know that the day of the interview is on Saturday. Perfect, nothing goes on on Saturdays. So I shake his hand with a smile and a thank you and I leave smiling but also nervous. I hope this goes well.
I get back into the camp, the kids had just got done eating. I go up to Max and let him know it's Saturday, he nods and his friends just look pretty confused, so he hasn't told any of them yet. That's fine.
Max's POV
I walk over to Y/n realizing that she still had her bandages on.
"Hey Y/n?"
"Hm?" She asks turning around from what she was doing.
"How come you still have those bandages on? Does it still hurt? Or is it still injured orr?" I ask actually wanting to know why.
"Yeah, I check them every night before I fall asleep. They are getting better though thankfully, hah, remember when I said a few days?"
"Yeah, you might want to check with David to see how long if he would even know that kind of thing."
She nods, "I think I'm actually gonna go ask about that now."
She goes to find him probably in his cabin.
Y/n's POV
I head over to David's cabin knocking on his door. He opens the door. I wonder why he's in here a lot today.
"Hey, David."
"Well hello Y/n, Whats going on?"
"Two things, could you check out my wounds? I don't know if it's alright to take them off and leave them off yet. Another question or two, how come you're in here so much today? Also, what's up with you and Max?" He lets me in and closes the door.
"Ah yes!" He picks me up and sets me up on a table, I don't understand why e does this, but I'm not complaining. He hurries into his bathroom to grab a small towel to clean them off. "Have you been cleaning them off?"
"Yep, before I sleep, I've forgotten to, like one night. I couldn't see my check so I dabbed my cheek just a bit." He nods.
"That's great Y/n!" He seemed happy that I was taking care of myself and that I haven't forgotten to clean them.
"Hah, yeah, it is?" He held up my arm taking off the bandages slowly, then taking the one off of my then my cheek, it stung a bit but it wasn't something I wasn't used too. He dabbed the towel on my cheek, then the others, while he kept talking to me. I ended up spacing out not knowing what he was talking about but I interrupted him.
"Hey David, sorry for interrupting, but you never answered my question on what was going on with you and Max and why his mother was here," I added in the last part, I wanted to know what was going on.
"Oh! Right, sorry about that, he'd be the one telling you about his mother, I don't think I can give the information to you and what's up with us?"
"Yeah, You just picked him up from our conversation and brought him to your cabin then walked by our table and just said 'It's this Saturday."
"Oh right! Sorry about that." He finishes and puts a smaller patch on my cheek, he grabs new bandages for me. "Don't tell him I told you, so when he does, or if he decides when camp is over, act surprised and really happy." I'm confused already.
"What? Hurry up tell me."
"Alright alright. I'm adopting Max." I sit there, just in surprise and shock.
"WHAT Y-YOU ARE??" I sit up and he shushes me.
"Keep your voice down, and yes, I am. Saturday is my interview." That makes more sense.
"So he'll live literally right across from me?" He nodded, I smiled, this made me really happy.
"Ahh! You're so happy I didn't know you could smile that much." He kidded
I shook my head, "Well It'll be great to know someone who I like close by."
"What? You never see Nikki or Neil around your school or neighborhood?"
"Yeah, and I do like them, they just live a couple houses away. You, you're right in front of me besides the street." I calmed down still smiling. "Anyways, when do you think I can take these off?"
"You're most likely going to have to go home with them." And the mood is back to normal. He finishes wrapping up my leg. I hop down losing some of my balance but regaining it.
//Honestly I'm really sorry, I don' know how getting adopted goes. also how else low-key forgot that she had bandages and stuff still on?? Again, sorry. Also I have another story called floral shop (Camp camp AU) if you want to check out that that'd be great. Thank you! Planchette_Larose))
