Chapter Thirty-Four

David's POV

"Hey y/n? I'm about to start the guitar activity, wanna get yours ready?" I ask peaking into her tent, she was already strumming it and playing a few cords.

"Yeah, I'm ready David, probably only going to let, Max and Neil use it though, but other that no one else."

"Alright, whelp it starts in a few minutes, and thank you Y/n!" I say happily, and exit her tent, she's right behind me. I wonder what song they might sing. Or at least play! Hopefully, it's appropriate. I call everyone over, Gwen and Daniel come over too, I'm holding my guitar ready for them. They sit in the groups they usually do when they eat.

"So tonight we will be playing guitars, I will be sharing mine with all of you, Y/n will be using her own and letting two people borrowing it, Max and Neil."

"I don't know how to play though," Neil says putting up his hand

"Everyone still gets a chance to play, even if you don't know how to! Neil, could you go first?" Y/n just hands him it.

Neil takes it and tries to get a hold o it, correctly, "Alright. uhm.." he just stums it multiple times then hands it to Max "OOOkay, your turn Max."

Max grabbed it an smirked, Oh boy. I look over at Gwen and she shakes her head at me, Daniel looks like he's going to enjoy it.  "Thank you. Neil." He strums it and starts playing a song, he starts singing 'Fuck the police' I instantly take the guitar away from him. "HEY, I was singing something."
"Yes, Max you were and it was inappropriate." I give it back to Y/n. Her and Max exchange looks. I swear to god.
She continues where he stopped with the song. "And not the other color so police think they have the authority to kill a- DAVID! HEY!" I take it from her "That's mine give it back!"
"I will once the activity is finished." The campers were giggling and snickering at the song, even Daniel was. Max just looked proud of her but was also laughing. Dang, it.

I sigh and hand over my guitar over to the camper next to me, Nerris, to Harrison to the next, they either played an excerpt of a song or stumped it like Neil did. Daniel and Gwen played a song and sang along to it, Daniel's was a Celestial Bodies, by Ghost Data, this is what he told us at least. I then ended up singing the last song before they went to do their own thing before bed. And that was the end of that day. 

Y/n's POV morning

I wake up being pretty early again, its only sunrise, not even all the way up yet. I step out and inhale, closing my eyes, "That's nice." I say quietly, stretching out my back. "Think I'll play by myself this time." I grab out my guitar and run out, already having so much energy to start out the day with. I find a place in the woods, sitting down and taking in my surroundings, looking up into the trees. I take another look around and sit on a low tree branch to sit on top of. Alright time to play whatever I want this time. I ended up playing Cough Syrup by The Young Giants, Oh No by Marina and the Diamonds and a few more. I got so into a few of them that I stood up singing them and wondered around. I ended up looking at the horizon line and just smiling. I felt so much joy and I'm not even sure, I'm not gonna complain though, it feels great.

I start heading back to the camp, hopefully, I'm not late, and it turned out that I wasn't. So I got a quite thing to eat, something to drink and in the forest, in as deep as I was before and continued to play calmly and as quiet as I could be, I know that none of them like to be woken up, only David probably. But I clear out my mind and play. I play until a certain little rat decides to interrupt me.

"Y/n? What are you doing up early?" I can hear him smiling.

I stop the cords, and look up at him and sigh, knew it. "Brutally murdering someone. What does it look like?" I sarcastically say with no expression what so ever towards Daniel.

"What a body your killing, I can't even see it, it's so brutal. So what you just come out in the morning and play?"

"Only when I wake up feeling refreshed or well. Or I can't get back to sleep." I shrug strumming.

"Understandable."

Wait, "Why are you out here anyway?"

"Woke up early and got bored, so I went outside and I walked around and heard you playing just like a minute ago so." I nod, makes sense

"Alright. Did you need something or you just seeing what I was doing, because I'd like to go back to brutally murdering this body."

"Well alright, have fun with that." He waved as he left while I continued to play away, he seemed normal. Like a normal sarcastic person.

Max's POV

I've seemed to have woken up early. no one is up yet. I have an instant reminder of what David said yesterday to think about it. and I mean, I'm still gonna go with the answer that I had before. I'm not going back to that hell of a town. So I get up doing my regular routine and going over to  Davids cabin. I knock on the door. He answers the door right away.

"Why good morning Maxwell!" He says as cheerfully as ever, damn he can't be happy 24/7, that's impossible. "Did you need something this morning?" He asks, I walk in and notice Daniel isn't in here like he normally would be. "Whatcha looking for?"
"Is Daniel in here?" I ask being blunt.
"Nope! He went outside because he got bored. But really, Why are you here so early? It's actually kinda strange."
"Well, I thought about it." I start technically not telling him whats going on, but he will. "I've decided that you should adopt me." I give a nod still avoiding eye contact.
He gasps "Really! That's great! But we'd have to wait until the end of summer since your parents choose not to pick up the calls... Then again, I could continue to call them over and over till they answer.." I like this idea he has. Give them some annoyance. 

"I like that idea, David." I nod smiling a bit devilishly.

"Alright. I will. Do you know the work hours for them?"

"Usually four to ten at night. How come you're doing this for me? Like, going to spam call them?"

"Because Max, I think they deserve some annoyance for what they've done to you." He says and I smile more.

"They deserve more than that!" I say a bit upset, but then again, it is David we're talking about. I don't think he's gonna do much.

"Yes they do Max, but you know me, I don't like to hurt people." I nod

"Yeah, I know. Hey David? You said that some other kids that go here live around you, who are they?"
He smiles while picking up his phone from the charger, he's doing it now?
"Well, I'm pretty sure, Nerris, Nikki, Neil, Harrison and Y/n does too, she lives across the street from me, that's why I was so excited to see her!" Y/n. Y/n lives across the street from David. And Neil and Nikki too? well around him, but that makes it even better to live with him!
"David you're excited to meet anyone who comes here. But if my friends are around you then that just makes, even more, better to live with you. Except for Harrison, Harrison can-" David stares at me "-Heck off. Harrison can heck off." Sure.
"Yes I usually am excited to see campers, But it was nice to see another familiar face. Especially since she was just across the street!" He started to dial it, did he memorize their damn number?
"Don't dial it yet. They aren't up, They'll be up around 12. Don't bother till then." He nods. and puts the phone down. "So you're going to be my father? Correct? Forever?" I ask double checking.
"Yes Max, once we figure everything out, and we sign the papers and make the calls, You'll be my son forever." He says it more solid? or just, a lot more seriously. I believe him and that makes me happy.
