Chapter Thirty-Nine

3rd POV

The four woke up around ten, David had let them sleep in instead of waking him up early, he had woken up Neil and Neil at ten. The other two woke up around 1030, Max had gotten up groggily gotten his coffee and just hung out in his cot. Moments later he got up and stretched and walked out of the cot, he looked around seeing that Y/n was just laying around on the dock, just taking in the sun and the extra day off.

"Hey, what are you up to?" He asked

"Just somewhat relaxing."

"Somewhat?"

"Low-key upset that we gotta go home tomorrow. Mostly. I've actually enjoyed this camp. Wow. Can't believe I admitted that outside of my head." Y/n sat up

Max sat next to her, "I know right, same here, I've enjoyed it too but I'm sure I know my reason."

Y/n chuckled, "Yeah, what about you? Home?"

He shrugged "Eh, I don't know. With David being my new dad and all. Prefer him than either of my parents." His eyes go wide realizing he told her, he was gonna wait till they got home.

"Oh, nice! That's amazing! That must be great actually, having a happy ray of sunshine that you'll be living with." She says excited.

"Whoops, but yeah, it might be great might be annoying, I feel like it'll be annoying for the first month or so."

"Who knows, maybe your already used to so it'll only take a few weeks." She lets out a laugh.

"Definitely not used to him and I have no idea, maybe."

"Also, David was very excited to tell you something."

"Speaking of camp man, where is everyone?"

"Doing the activity. They moved it to today instead of tomorrow for obvious reasons."

Max nodded, "Alright, well, I'll see what he wants. Later." he walked off and Y/n just waved laying back down.

Max walked into the cafeteria and went up to David. "Hey, David? Y/n said you wanted to see me?" David had the biggest smile on his face.

"Max! This won't take long! I don't care if you already have an idea of what it is I'm telling you anyways." He said extremely excited. Max had an idea of what it was and smiled a bit. David dragged him into the pantry.

"They called last night instead of tomorrow or tonight! They said I get to take you home Max! I'm your father!" He exclaimed happily.

Max looked up at him in shock and happiness. "That's amazing, David!" He smiled, nobody's seen him smile like this, David has been looking for this smile ever since he knew Max trying to make him happy like this. This just made David, even more, happier, if that's even possible.

David didn't hesitate to pick him up for a hug. He was just so excited. Max, on the other hand, was a little uncomfortable, not used to what so ever, tried pushing away and wiggling around. David puts him down.

"Sorry about that, I'm just so thrilled!" He pats his head, "Well I need to get going to the activity! See you around Max!" Max took a deep breath, put on his 'regular' face and walked out of the cafeteria, to Nikki and Neil.

"So what was that all about? We heard David almost screaming, and when he was in here helping earlier, he was beaming more than ever, kinda annoying, weird too, never seen anyone that happy. Then again never seen anyone David happy, and for as long as him.

"Eh it was nothing, you'll probably find out later."
"Later? Today and tomorrow is our last day though." Neil contradicted
"I said later. Trust me. Damn." Neil nodded,
"Fine, Fine. Better be tomorrow though."
"Tomorrow is to early let it go Neil." He says annoyed at the friend.
"Can't wait to here about it Max, sounds like it made David extra happy." Nikki states after swallowing her food and putting her hand in the air when she says extra.
