10 years ago my mother passed away from an unknown illness I was only 8 my father runs a shop here in Republic City serving different types of foods it's not much but we're happy this way, little did I know soon things were about to change.

(Present day)

I woke up with the sun in my face as I groan forced to get up when sleep just felt so good. I stand reaching for my dresser to pull out a pair of clothes and groggily put my boots on as I make my way downstairs to open up shop. I pull open the shutters and proceed to pull the carts of food onto the already busy streets when I hear some familiar voices.

Pema: "Good morning Brandon it's you look like you slept well."

I turn towards her and her little airbender children Ikki, Jinora, and Meelo the youngest. They were frequent customers here so I got to know them all too well although I never met Pemas husband Tenzen probably because he was always so busy on the council, but i smile at them all the less.

Me: "Good morning Pema." I chuckle "I slept alright kinda wish that I could've slept a little longer though what can I do for you guys today?" I ask.

Pema: "Oh just the usual please." She smiles warmly at me.

I nod at her and start to grab the usual items she needs while Ikki starts rambling on about something that I don't understand quite well Meelo found his way on top of my head at some point asking me questions on all the food I have in the stand, and Jinora tells me about a new book she started reading about knights and princesses which I actually found interesting, she like to share them since she knows how much I enjoy reading and I've thought to myself about actually writing something one day but that thought passes by as I turn back towards Pema.

Me: " Anything else I can do for you Pema?" I ask

Pema: "No that's all I need, come on kids time to get dinner ready for your father." She says kindly they all groan at that wanting to stay around me a little longer which warms my heart and makes me smile slightly.

Just then someone came speeding around the corner chased by police officers towards Pema and my eyes widen in surprise as I reach out and pull her out of the way just in time before it hits her.

Me: "Are you alright Pema!?" She looks back at me and nods while sighing in relief.

Pema: "Yes I am thank you that could've been way too close for comfort." She says shaken

I scowled at the car recognizing it immediately "Those damn Triple Threats are always causing trouble I'm just glad you're alright" she smiles and waves her hand in front of her face.

Pema: "I'm just glad you were here to save me." She says looking at me "I'll have to think of a way to repay you."

I rub the back of my neck chuckling softly " Oh don't worry about that I don't expect anything in return" she pouts at that playfully pointing a finger at me.

Pema: "Oh no mister I won't let you off that easily I'll be back here when I can think of something alright" she says a little angry

Me: "Alright, alright once you think of something come back and I'll happily accept" I say, she smiles at me triumphantly

Pema: "Alright kids say goodbye to Brandon." I hear them whine about it as they come over to give me a big hug I smile slightly at them returning it happily

Me: "Don't worry guys I'll see you all before you know it." That seems to perk them up as they smile at me before turning back and run after Pema waving goodbye. As I'm waving back I hear a slight cough behind me turning to see my father in the doorway.
