Chapter 32: New Beginnings

It's been about two days since our battle with Kuvira and we've already been super busy with Varrick's wedding happening in just a few hours. Everyone's come to see them as well even though the city is still a mess. We all agreed to start fixing it after the wedding so we could just have a break for once which is super nice considering my wounds have just finished healing even with Olivia's help but I'm better now so that's all that matters. I was currently fixing my suit Pema had lent me for the when Korra walked in and I must say she took my breath away with her looking absolutely stunning in her dress. She noticed at my staring making her blush a bit in embarrassment.

Korra: "What do I look alright." I smiled walking up grabbing her hands.

Me: "You look absolutely stunning." She smiled and blushed some more before kissing me lightly.

Korra: "You look quite dashing yourself dear." I chuckle a bit looking down at my attire.

Me: "Thank you although I really do hate wearing stuff like this, it's so tight like how do people go to work like this everyday." I said pulling my pants and shirt out trying to let my body breath a bit causing Korra to laugh.

Korra: "Don't worry it's only for tonight then you can go back to your loose clothes you love so much." She said in a teasing manner as we both laughed at that.

Me: "You're right now shall we get going?" I asked putting my arm out to her which she gladly accepted as she slipped her hands around it.

Korra: "Why yes we shall." We both laughed at that as we made our way to the upper courtyard where we set up some chairs and made our own alter as well for the wedding. Bolin even offered to initiate it which really surprised me since I never knew he could do that, but it's that time for new beginnings I suppose. Speaking of new beginnings I noticed Gajeel talking with Wendy as she sat atop his shoulders and he actually cleaned up nicely as he put his hair into a ponytail while Wendy wore a elegant white dress and her hair was tied up into pigtails. I smiled at that happy the're getting along so well I know Gajeel was worried at first but I think he fits in quite nicely. Korra and I made our way to our seats as did everyone else as we saw Varrick and Zhu Li walking with their arms sling in with one another and we all stood and watched as they made their way up to the altar and sat back down when they reached the end next to Bolin who cleared his throat a little before his big speech.

Bolin: "Dearly beloved we are gathered here today to witness the true love between the handsome Varrick and the elegant Zhu Li as we come together to this glorious day and though our battle took a severe toll on our beloved city, out of destruction love did bloom so that is why friends and family we gather here today to celebrate the wondrous and at times indespicable bond between Sir Varrick and the Lady Zhu Li... true love is a fickle creature difficult to find and nearly impossible to tame but Varrick and Zhu Li have proven that even the longest of longshots can have a chance at happiness together." I felt Korra squeeze my hand a little at that making me smile slightly. "Now for the Vows... do you Sir Iknik Blackstone Varrick of the Southern Water Tribe master of the high seas take lady Zhu Li Moon to be your lawfully wedded wife, will you promise not to treat her not as your assistant but as your honored and cherished partner."

Varrick: "You're darn tootin I do." I mentally face palmed at that he really never can take something seriously can he.

Bolin: "And do you Zhu Li take Varrick to be your lawfully wedded husband and promise to pamper him in sickness and in health and also scrub his callouses on a biweekly basis which isn't really that much to ask- ok I'm not reading this."

Zhu Li: "I do take Varrick calluses and all."

Bolin: "You may now do the thing!" With that Zhu Li then pulled Varrick in for a simple kiss as everyone started to clap and cheer for the new couple and I even noticed Varrick start to cry which in a way made me happy as well for he truly loves her which brought my thoughts back to Korra as I slightly glanced at her thinking about our future and all... but that can be saved for another time.
