Chapter 11: The Beginning of the End

We flew in silence preparing ourselves for the fight that determines the fate of the world I looked over and saw Asami's team on the plane Bolin was holding on for dear life yelling about how he was an earthbender so he should stay on the ground I chuckled a bit as I turned back towards the portal. I had to admit I was pretty nervous about facing Acnologia this'll be my first challenge as a Dragon Slayer and I can't fail none of us can. The plane split off as we got closer so they could create an opening for us we rose higher in the clouds to try and stay hidden for a little longer as we neared the portal I turned to Korra. "Once inside focus on closing the portal I'll watch your back and keep you safe." She nodded and pulled me into a hug.

Korra: "Make sure you stay safe too I'm not planning on losing anyone today." I nodded firmly and saw Kya smirk a bit, I ignored it as we came closer to the portal but something was wrong there where a lot of dark spirits circling around it, then a few broke off and started heading straight for us. "Quick protect Oogie we have to make it to the portal." I nodded I started to shoot fireballs at the spirits around Oogie. One landed on his back and Bumi jumped on it taking it to the ground while another one wrapped itself around Oogie's legs making us lose altitude. I thought of something just now we were too high to jump off into the portal but if I could grab a spirit I could make it inside before the others giving me more time to face Acnologia without them. I stood a the edge of the saddle and found my target before I jumped I turned to Korra and smiled. "No Brandon don't do it we can help you." She said horrified.

Me: "Don't worry about me close the portal while I stop Acnologia this is my path and I aim to finish it." She reached out for me but I started to lean back. "Goodbye Korra." Then I jumped grabbing a spirit using it to guide me to the ground safely just outside of the portal. I took a deep breath and stepped inside, once I passed through I could see the northern portal a few hundred feet across from the southern one behind me I looked around and saw the tree of time where Vaatu was currently being held captive until Harmonic Convergence began and on top of the tree was... Acnologia. As a got closer he jumped off the tree turning around to face me smiling evilly.

Acnologia: "So this is the little dragon Igneel sent to stop me how disappointing." I smirked at his comment.

Me: "You know you should never judge a book by its cover because as far as I know you won't be leaving here today." He laughed wickedly.

Acnologia: "Finally I haven't had a challenge in ten thousand years do try to amuse me."

I stepped back into my fighting stance as he rushed at me engulfing his whole body with blue flames. I stepped forward shooting a huge fire blast out towards him but he just jumped over it easily bringing his heel down onto my head I blocked it but the force still made the ground crack beneath my feet. I grabbed his heel bringing him down to my level kicking him in the stomach. He slid back a few feet before rushing me once again throwing a punch to my face I dodged it but then he spun around with amazing speed kicking me in the chest throwing me to the ground. I fixed myself mid air so I landed on my feet with one hand scraping against the ground. When I looked back to Acnologia he was already in my face as he slammed his palm into my face and forcing me into the ground. I brought my feet to my chest pushing him off then threw myself back onto my feet.

Me: "Not bad Acnologia you definitely live up to your title of a Dragon Slayer." He laughed maniacally.

Acnologia: "You're not bad yourself but too bad for you I've just warmed up." He started yelling as more flames built up around him and I could sense more power rising. He stopped and moved to me with blinding speed I barely had enough time to block his attack before he spun around and kicked me in my side throwing me off balance. I quickly re adjusted before throwing my own kick to him hitting him square in the face, but it didn't faze him as he hit me with a series of punches knocking the wind out of me.
