Chapter 16: Attack on Zaofu

I woke with the rising sun and the sound of the metal domes opening up. I yawned and tried to sit up but something on top of my prevented me from doing so. I looked down to see Korra still asleep on my chest. My scarf still wrapped around her neck as she snuggled into my chest, I smiled at her and brushed the few strands of hair covering her eyes. She started to stir a little as she slowly opened her eyes looking up at me. She smiled at first then seemed to realize what position she was actually in as her face turned crimson and she back up off of me.

Korra: "Um... I... Uh I didn't mean to fall asleep on you I'm sorry." I chuckled and tapped her on the head lightly.

Me: "Don't worry about it I didn't mind it plus you look like you slept well." She nodded and looked down bashfully.

Korra: "I actually did sleep well you were very comfortable." I blushed and helped her up to her feet as we started to walk back to the train station hopefully we won't run into anybody since we were supposed to come back before nightfall. Unfortunately when we got off the train we were met with a very unhappy Chief of Police.

Lin: "Where the hell have you two been you were supposed to come back BEFORE nightfall not the next day now explain yourselves." I put my hands up in defense trying to calm her down a bit.

Me: "It was an accident I swear we were sitting under a tree and just happened to fall asleep." I said as I felt my cheeks heat up as well as Korra's as she looked at the ground embarrassed.

Lin: "What if Korra was attacked what then you already know there's criminals after her and now you put her life in danger." Now it was my turn to get serious.

Me: "I would never do anything to put Korra in danger I have very sensitive hearing if anyone where to try something I would know and I would protect her no matter the cost." Korra smiled at that and squeezed my hand a little while Lin just huffed in annoyance.

Lin: "Whatever just don't let it happen again." With that she walked off. I sighed and turned back to Korra.

Me: "Well hat happened sorry it had to turn out like that." She just shook her head at me and smiled softly.

Korra: "Don't worry about it it's my fault I have maniacs after me but thank you for sticking up for me." I smiled back at her.

Me: "Hey don't worry about it it's like what I said yesterday I'll always be there to protect you." She smiled and blushed a little while fidgeting in place before she came up and kissed me on the cheek.

Korra: "Thank you for last night I had a lot of fun I'll see you at training alright." With that she ran off while I stood there slowly touching the place where her lips touched as a blush slowly creeped up on my face. I didn't think Korra would do something like that so suddenly but then again she did kiss me during Harmonic Convergence. I started heading back to the dining hall when I was stopped by Asami who had an eyebrow raised and a playful smirk on her lips.

Asami: "So tell me mister how was your date last night I want all the details." I chuckle a bit and gesture for her to follow me which she gladly accepted. I explained how great the night went with us going to dinner and then how we watched the sunset which lead to us falling asleep on each other. When I finished Asami just smiled at me and gave me a huge hug. "Aww that's so sweet I'm so happy for you." I chuckled a bit as she pulled away from me and quirked her eyebrow up. "Now tell me did you find out anything while you were together?" I raised an eyebrow confused at first at what she was asking until I put two and two together nodding back to her.

Me: "Actually I have found something out I've realized that I'm slowly falling in love with her." Asami just smiled at me hummed happily.

Asami: "Aaand what are you going to do about it mister." I chuckled at her and slowly shook my head.
