"WHAT ABOUT THEM?" I asked as she shook her head.

"Never mind," I was about to protest and tell her to explain since she's been doing that a lot lately; She stares into my eyes for long times and seemed to be exploring my pupils and irises, then stops and says 'never mind', but I couldn't ask for the reason when Olivia's mom is right in front of us.

"Okay..."

"So," Mrs.Danes did a single clap, "let's have dinner,"

How do I explain this? I don't know, so...I'll describe it:

During dinner I literally couldn't keep my eyes off of Olivia, and it bugged me. I tried to keep my attention on the floor or the table, but I couldn't—I really couldn't. Even Derrick noticed and gave me an annoyed glance every now and then. Mrs. Danes gave me a knowingly look, which made me question if she knew something I didn't, but she didn't say a word.

When it started to storm outside and the smell of rain entered the house, I couldn't help but smirk at the way Olivia's eyes widened at the lightning flashing through the windows.

While subtly watching her across the table I noticed she drank her cup of water with a pinky and ate didn't particularly like ham or broccoli. She also liked to play with her food, but every time her mother looked in her direction she chomped it down just to be nice.

"It's a lake house an hour out of town. Normally you know I wouldn't let you go that far by yourself without an adult, but since the twins are with you, I trust that everything will be responsible and safe." Mrs.Danes answered Olivia's recent question.

"How did you get the idea?"

"Lisa had the idea for Ethan and Grayson and wanted you to join since you're friends with the twins," Yeah, friends with me like a few hours ago and I'm not sure if Grayson and her even talk. "She owns the lake house, so she also said you can invite your own friend...," Mrs.Danes gave her daughter a look that I couldn't decipher.

When did my ma get a lake house? Maybe that was the surprise she was talking about this morning. "Honey, did your mom already talk to you about this?" All eyes turned to me as I almost choked on my sandwich.
