< Aawake at night- half•Alive>
I've been drowning in this restless mind
I'm sick of being so unsatisfied
Tell me that the answer's right
God, are you awake at night?
'Cause I've been abandoned by my company,
I'll search for what's in front of me,
And hope that i find something new
<Talk- Spencer Sutherland>
I had a dream, had a dream the other night
That you were laying next to me and I was feeling things
I woke up, I woke up by myself
And now my head wonʻt stop thinking things ʻbout us
And now when I see you I just donʻt know how to act
But if I kiss you, I could never take that back

PARTIES. I NEVER KNOW WHY I SHOW UP to them if I'm never having fun. Twenty minutes in and my company had abandoned me, twenty minutes in and I'm on my third cup of beer.
Twenty minutes in and about thirty fake people have talked to me so far. I come to the parties with my brother to socialize, to be apart of the crowd like everyone else, but I just want to go home. I want to sleep, I want to stop thinking, and I want to dream.
After searching the crowd for someone interesting to talk to, I find someone I never thought would be at a party on a Saturday night. Olivia.
What the hell is she doing here?
I thought her mother forbade from her to going out of the house on the weekends. Lydia (Olivia's mom) says it's for Olivia's wellbeing, but really, it's cause she's scared her daughter will get hurt again.
She's so afraid she even guilt tripped me into watching over her daughter. That's the only reason why I'm sweeter to Olivia than to other people, because Lydia wants me to make sure she's okay.
"I can't trust anyone at that school to make sure she's okay. I would do it myself, but I can't clone myself to be everywhere, and since you see her everyday there, if you would do me the favor to watch over her, I'll forever be in your debt."
I frowned, glancing back at my mother talking to Olivia in the hospital room. "You want me to watch over Olivia to make sure she's okay?" I asked, trying to make sure I heard the words right. "Mrs. Danes, with all due respect, wouldn't that be kind of weird? Just following her around to make sure she's okay?"
She rolled her eyes, glaring at me so much so I took a step back. I usually dealt with Ethan's glares, but this was different- scarier. "You're not going to "follow her around"," she scoffed, "You're just...going to watch from a distance to make sure nothing is wrong."
"Why?"
"Because if you don't and something bad ever happens to her, that'll be on your consciousness. It'll haunt you forever until you can't take the guilt-" she started as I narrowed my eyes slightly.
"Okay, I'll do it." I surrendered, holding my hands up. I sighed, turning to watch Olivia talk to my father now.
I stayed true to our deal, and like I said, I didn't follow her around. I watched her when she sat with her friend during lunch, I fucked up a few guys who were friends with Issac after they started some shit with her. I made sure she was okay, and she was...at least I thought.
