Chapter 14: currently slow-dancing with the devil

I painted my nails black, straightened my hair and put it in a lose braid, and fit into my dresses. Parker wore a golden dress like her hair. " you look amazing" she looked at me head to tow. " you look great" i tell her. " i know its hard with Will" Parker squeezed me. " you have no idea" i mumble. knock knock

Justin pushed the door open and checked his watch, " one minute late" he said. he wore a crisp black suit, with a black tie. " what are you doing here" Parker said. " here to escort you guys, were going together" Justin said. " OMG ITS JUSTIN WELLINGTON! hes so HOT" amanda screamed as her, lorine, and some other girls enter the dorm. " thanks ladies" Justin adjusted his suit. " who are you going with, are you alone, wanna go with me, please go with me" Lorine screeched. " Im taking Scarlet" he pulls me to him. I give lorine and awkward smile.

" Scarlet is not even pretty", amanda whined. " Hey, shut your mouth" Parker said. " what?" amanda said. " she was with Will and now she sleeping with his brother, shes a slu-" amanda stopped and covered her mouth. " Go on Amanda, say it. TRY me" i walk up to her. " woah, woah" justin takes my hand and leads me back to him. "Im not with Justin" I said, " hes a friend taking me". " Parker, lets go" amanda starts to walk out. the girls follow her but Parker was hesitant. " its ok, Parker, you can go" i said. soon, the dorm was quiet, and it was just me and justin, like when i was in the hospital. " thank you" i said. " No problem, just friends tonight" Justin winked ." friends" i copy him. " And no moodacashe buisness till later" i state. he nods his head and drapes his arm over my shoulder, " shall we go" he says. " we shall" i laughed.

I came for the food. songs were blasting, lights were flashing, and i could not see my way through the school gym." put that cupcake down and come dance with me" Justin grabs my waist. i push it away, " no" i laugh. " im not joking"" Justin stared at me again. " neither am I" i take a bite of my cupcake. he takes my hand and drags me to the dance floor. " no, no!" i scream in laughter. i grab my dress train as he leads me through the crowd. I cant find parker or any excuse to not dance. " i cant dance" I say. " sure you can" justin spins me around and dips me. I didnt know he could dance. " here a slow one for the ladies" the dj yells. justin gives me his signature smirk. he put a hand on my waist. I put my hands on his waist and shoulder. It felt awkward at first but then i felt like i was living my 5 year old princess fantasies. we swayed, and i felt calm. he spinned me one more time.

Suddenly i notice Will, in the corner of the dance floor, staring at me. justin puts his hands on my cheeks and turns my head towards his. " No Will, not tonight" Justin promised. " ok" i agreed ." youre beautiful tonight" Justin states. "Friends" I remind him. Will gives me a look, and then Stephanie Brooks walks up to him. he smiles and is happy to join her in dancing. "Was the rumor we made up not really a rumor, but a fact?" I asked. " I thought i said no Will" Justin shakes his head.

the slow song suddenly went into a salsa and i looked around, " ya, you can find me at the snack bar" i pick up my dress again but justin spins me then hugs me from the back. " I cant salsa" I admitted. Jusitn smiles, " Just move your feet". I had more fun than anticipated and realized that Justin genuinly cared. i stand on my tiptoes and kiss him on the cheek. " Thanks for keeping me distracted". Justin couldnt take it, the fact that he had to hold his emotions all bottled up and how i kissed him on the cheek. he leaned in and kissed me on the lips.

I was in shock at first so I let go. " Woah, Justin, FRIENDS" pI said. " I know" He responded. I pulled him in and kissed him. I was a hypocrite. I was hopping that I could play it off but I felt relived to kiss him. realizing that i actually did that, he pulled me out of the dance floor and on the bleachers. we kissed, just like the halucination. It was slow and romantic, and everytime i open my eyes i was met with his glistening blue ones. 'I felt his wet lips on mine, and his hand holding me. " I know your not used to slow and steady" i whisperd. " i like it, because it means i get to spend more time with you" he kisses me and almost knocks me out of my seat.

I notice a red figure in the door of the gym. I stop kissing. " Tharzius" I get up and run out the bleachers and to the door. Stumbling, justin follows behind. " your not going alone" he said. i run out the door but then close it, so Justin couldnt get through. " Scarlet, NO!" he bangs on the door. " I have to do this alone" i said.

the red figure was in the middle of the school entrance awaiting me. " Tharzius" i said. the red smoke disappeared and a man in a tux, serious face, faced me. " Scarlet, so nice to finally meet you" he lays out his hand. I shake it awkwardly. " I have questions" i start to shiver. " I have answers" tharzuis replied. " am I a double of audrianna" i said. " you should know that one" tharzius answered. so it was true. " why moodacashes, why do you want me to turn" I said. " you know that one, too" Tharzius said. " Plus, i need some revenge with the gods" Tharzius explained.

" who is the double of Salomon" I asked. " Ugh, that bastard." tharzius explained. " who do you think" tharzius said. I already knew, "Will" . " see! Your a smart girl" Tharzius said. " Thats why you wanted me to break up with him" i exclaimed. the puzzle peices finally got alligned. " heres what I like about you. Your transformation is going to be harder because you love Will, as a friend. but, according to the spell, you only have to love. but you love justin, as more than a friend" Tharzius explained.

" How did you find me" I said. " Maybe its my turn to say what i want to say" Tharzius said, " Sit". with one swift movement of his hand, I was whisked away to the couch across the room. " you are the perfect person for me right now. lets just say i have some favors to owe and some revenge to inflict. I thought at first i would have to convince your stubbborn personality to fall for Justin but as it turns out, you already do" Tharzius explains. I bite my lip, he was watching. " all i have to do is sit back, relax, and wait for you to turn" He laughs. Atleast I had closure, somewhere deep deep inside of my subconsious, I would have picked Justin over Will. " But i love Will more" I said, " Even if you made me create a lie" . "Doesnt matter if you love him more, the only thing that matters is that you love someone else" Tharzius stopped pacing around the room and opened the broom closet next to the couch. A dead amanda head rolled out of the closet, coating the glass coffee table in a red garnish.

" you killed Amanda? you promised you wouldnt..." I get up from the couch but he sits me back down. " You didnt physically say 'im breaking up with you' so i got confused" Tharzius seemed like he was getting a good laugh out of this. Tears dropped down my eyes, I never liked Amanda, but she didn't deserve to be part of this. The head was decomposing and the smell was putrid. suddenly Justin bursts into the room. " Scarlet, dont you ever do that to me again. And tharzius, leave her alone" Justin said. " I wouldnt be giving me orders if i were you, you are a small part of this plan that i can easily replace. with another movement, Tharzius sent justin flying across the room. " Justin!" I couldnt get up. " Ill be here for more visits" tharzius vanished in red smoke.

I was able to get up and run to Justins help. " Im not scared of him" I tell him. " Me neither, pretty lame for a 2000 year old witch demon" Justin coughed. I looked around for help but realized if i did call then they would notice amandas rotting head. Justin held my shoulder for support as we limped to the hospital.
