Me rambling wildly about The Fandom for a little bit

HI I JUST READ THE FANDOM AND HOLY FUCKING SHIT I AM A  W R E C K

LIKE 4000% NOT OKAY RIGHT NOW

THAT BOOK WAS A MINDFUCK

A HORRIFICALLY SAD MINDFUCK

//SCREAM-SOBBING

I'M NOT GONNA SAY WHO DIED BECAUSE YOU FUCKING GOTTA READ THIS

BUT HOLY SHIT I CRIED FOR NEARLY THREE HOURS

FROM PAGE 331 TO THE END I JUST SOBBED AND THEN CONTINUED ON FOR ANOTHER 2 HOURS

I JUST

THAT'S NOT OKAY??

AAAUUUUUGGHHHH

Okay, okay, deep breaths, I'm calming down

Tbh this book was like Scythe, where I was browsing aimlessly at Barnes and Nobel when this one caught my eye. But with Scythe it was the awesome cover, whereas with The Fandom it was the title

I mean

I am such a fangirl, over way too many things

You really think I was gonna pass up a book literally titled 'The Fandom'??? no.

But now I'm kinda wishing I hadn't picked it up because as previously mentioned, it sorta shredded my feels

*deep inhale*

Let's see if I can explain what it's about

You know those obnoxious cliché fanfics, the kind where someone basically just rewrites a fandom, but with their OC as a main character? Sometimes, this is because they/their OC goes into the story, and the plot ends up being about them trying to get home. I have seen so many of those, and most of them make me regret being a fangirl

Well, The Fandom started out kinda like one of those stories

Except with great characters

And very few cliches

And some SERIOUS what-the-hell-is-actually-real mindfuckery

Aaaahh

Basically this girl Violet, her little brother Nate, and her two friends Alice and Katie get sent into their favorite series, The Gallows Dance because of a strange 'accident' (which we later learn wasn't actually an accident, but someone REALLY FUCKING THINGS UP)

In the first few minutes, while they're still not fully processing that it's real, Katie manages to cause the death of the real main character, Rose. Then Violet ends up taking Rose's place in the story of The Gallows Dance, but...yeah, that doesn't go very well

None of the supposed-to-be protagonists trust her, she falls in love with the wrong guy (+he falls for her too), and to top it all off, one of her friends becomes a total double crosser but then? not really?? aAAH???

And then there's just layers and layers of 'okay wait this is happening but it wasn't in the book? Or the movie? How can this be happening if it's not canon? This isn't canon but it is?? WHAT'S ACTUALLY REAL HERE??' and 'if we're here, then what's happening in the real world?' and it just

really

messed with my head.

in a good way.

It took a while for me to figure out why it was called 'The Fandom' (I could actually think of a title that seemed more fitting through most of the book) but when I got to a certain part I just kinda went 'OOOHHHHHH OKAY HOLY SHIT'

AND THEN ONE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS DIED AND I TURNED INTO A SNOTTY SOBBING MESS

HHHHNNNNNNNNN.

LIKE

CHAPTER 41 (eSPECIALLY PAGE 331) OF THE FANDOM IS ALMOST AS BAD AS CHAPTER 55 OF THE DEATH CURE. OR THE END OF MCSM EPISODE 4. OR CHAPTER 20 OF HTTYD 11. OR CHAPTERS 39 AND 40 OF CROOKED KINGDOM.

I COULD KEEP GOING BECAUSE THAT WAS LITERALLY HEARTBREAKING.

*another im-trying-to-be-calm breath*

Lemme think about who was my favorite character without giving spoilers

I loved Ash

Gosh

And Nate!! And Katie, and Saskia, and VIOLET, and sometimes Alice,,,

Just kidding Alice was never a favorite character

Except at the end

Damn

Hhhhhhhnnnnnnn

You should read The Fandom

It's a fairly new book so I don't think it has much of a following yet

Ha

The Fandom doesn't have much of a fandom

Hahaha

Kill me

Oh and I also read Red Queen and that one was good too but it wasn't quite as insanely heartbreaking even though MAVEN WHY and SERIOUSLY ELARA and MARE WHOA and SHADE WHAT and just

I rEALLY hope there's a sequel??? I mean I'm pretty sure there already is but

Wow

Yikes

HHHHHHNNNNNNNNNNN

For the good of my health, I should probably stop reading books

But am I going to??

'Course not :'D

Peace, love, and thorns,

~Rush and Naomie
