A while ago, I made a Very Stupid mistake

I was at Barnes & Nobel, looking for new books, because I'm always on the hunt for more reading material. This may have actually been the same trip in which I bought The Fandom (another book that messed me up beyond belief), but anyway I found two books by Marie Lu, an author of a book I'd recently read and really enjoyed (Warcross)

I bought the first Young Elites book, and the first Legend book

Do you see my mistake

I already knew I liked this author

I already knew I loved her settings and characters and storytelling tactics

I was already fully aware of her affinity for cliffhangers

So why the hell did I only buy the first book of each

I could've bought all three Young Elites, or all three Legends. At the very least, I could've bought 1 and 2 of one of those

No

Instead, I bought the first of each

I read Legend, and the ending fucked me up, but not too horribly???

Then I read Young Elites on Wednesday
