I couldn't even tell her what I found out.

Pangalawa, maaring malagay sa alanganin si Gelo. A possibility that when the Garcias and Abellanas find out about him, they'd push on taking him away from Kennie. Worse, the wife and her family may think of harming the boy.

Hindi nag-iisip ang gago! Doktor ba talaga yun? Nabobobohan ako! Putang ina!

I was ranging mad. A strong feeling that I brought for a couple of days kahit ngayong papunta na uli ako sa Bataan.

"He was able to do this because, technically, it wasn't a duplicate birth certificate. Iba ang pangalan ng mga magulang. And the child's last name wasn't Dayrit."

"So, are we good to go or is there a 'but' that will follow?"

"Yeah, there's a 'but'. As you can see, like I told you before, William found the doctor. Teka, akala ko ba ipinahanap mo kay Rob?"

"I was about to."

Pero ang totoo, nagpabaya rin ako. I was so busy with work, and thinking of shielding Kennie and Gelo from any attempt of the Garcias to communicate with them, or any form of personal or physical contact. Naging kampante ako na magiging madali lang since Mom is preparing a back-up for us in case the custody battle for Gelo escalates. I put my guards down thinking it would be a smooth sail for that paternal acknowledgement.

I did then, "What else do I need to know or expect?"

Ralph sighed, "Both yours and Garcia's birth certificates are legal. The only problem, of course, is that there's only one child. In technicalities, mas pabor sa iyo dahil nauna itong nairehistro. Pero maari pa rin n'yang makuha ang bata by proving that your birth certificate is null and void."

"How?"

"The doctor's and Kennie's confessions together. And if not that, then he will push it further ... DNA testing."

Nawalan ako ng kibo.

Masasalag ko ang pag-amin ni Kennie. I mean, I will condition her mind more not to say anything. That I will do all the talking.

But DNA...

What a sneaky sunuvabitch doctor!

When I entered the Bataan proper, I checked the time.

Aabot ako.

So I put on my wireless earphones then waited.

"Hello, Mike?"

"I'll pick you up. May pag-uusapan tayo."

"Uhm, sige. Ano, Mike?"
