A/N - picture of Ana on side :)
Father said that someone was coming today, someone I didn't know. Everyone else was excited for the stranger, but I was just nervous, strangers didn't usually take well to me. I was actually surprised that father was letting me out me out of my attic room. He didn't do that often.
'Do you want to play with me?' Kid asked me
"Not right now, I have to get ready," I replied annoyed that she was interrupting my train of thought.
'That's right, you have to get ready for the smoking alpha who's coming, I bet he's here to find his hoar of a mate just think about all the banging they're going to get up to!'
Coquette slurred against my neck.
"Father says that he's only here for business," I told her off for her profound words.
'Father said this, father said that! it's all you ever say! Even though he treats us horribly. I think that we should get a knife and slit Fathers throat,' Beezle sneered.
Beezle always wanted me to kill things, though he said it in a way that I don't think he really meant it, he was just angry all the time.
"No, Beezle, that would be wrong," I reproached.
'It wouldn't matter even if he was, he won't look at us twice anyway,' Woe grumbled.
I sighed, "True, that how....."
"Who are you talking to?" My older sister Jen-Jen interrupted me.
"My friends." I stated looking at the floor.
She frowned and scanned the room, "No one is here Anna...... You're still taking your meds right?" Jenny's eyes grew wide with worry.
"Of course." I mumbled and she sighed in relief.
I lied. I wasn't taking them anymore. I didn't like the way they suppressed my wolf inside, or how they made me ...... normal.
Jen-Jen smile and grabbed my hand stopping me from scratching my wrist. I didn't realize I was doing it. It was red raw, almost bleeding.
She looked at me sadly, "Come on Anna, let me fix you up." She gently walked me over to my closet where she found two thickly banded, black ribbons, which she tied around my wrists to hide the redness. Jen always looked after me like that.
"Now, what is this that your wearing? Overalls, a T-shirt and no shoes? That's not good enough Anna, we're meeting the Alpha king, the least you could do is dress up a little bit,"
Alpha king?
Jen went through my closet and pulled out one of my black high waisted skirts that came to just above my knee and a long sleeved stripy shirt, that showed a little of my stomach.
"What do you think?" she asked me.
I shrugged.
'You can go sexier than that, Annie-wanie,' Coquette giggled
"Shhhh," I whispered, as I started to unknowingly fidget with my hands as I looked about the room eyes wide.
Jen was going to notice, she was going to notice and they would lock me up... They were going to come for me ..... They were going to take me away ... They were..... they were coming to get me.....
"Anna, what kind of shoes do you have?"
I looked up at her sharply forgetting about whatever it was I had been thinking about.
"Shoes?"
"Yes silly shoes, they go on your feet," she laughed at me.
I didn't like when they laughed at me.
I walked to to the closet and pulled my only pair of shoes out, they were an old pair of black combat boots.
"Oh.... okay.. I guess I can work with that," Jen sighed as the seared through my stuff, pulling out a pair of black knee high socks.
"Put these on.... do you have anything that's not black?"
I shook my head. No I did not.
She sighed again and turned around so I could get dressed.
"There.... You look beautiful, now we are ready to go meet the Alpha," she smile grabbing my fidgeting hands and pulling my out if the attic.
This was wrong, something felt wrong. I.... I didn't know what it was but there was a feeling on the back of my neck. Like someone was watching me. I twisted around looking for what was making me feel like this but it there was nothing there.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw the shadows wave hello as they did a little bobble dance, swirling into different colours.
I started to giggle. It was funny. My giggle expanded into a laugh that echoed around the halls.
"Annie? Are you okay?" Jen asked me carefully.
I nodded hard.
She smiled, "What's so funny?"
"The shadows," I grinned.
"The shadows? why?"
"They're dancing." I laughed and started to sway to the song the shadows were playing.
Jens smile diminished as she told me off. "Shadows don't dance Anna."
Yes they do, but I didn't tell her that, she wouldn't believe me.
I waved goodbye to the shadows as we continued though the halls of the victorian estate, my family called home. We entered the ballroom.
I looked at all the faces that crowed the entry stairs. They were my sisters all twelve of them. My father had thirteen daughters including me. I was the youngest.
My sisters included Camilla who was the eldest, Roxanne, Michele, Brianna, Jenelle, Marley, Betty, Tiffany, Jacqueline, Ellie, Amelia, Jennifer and me.
Only Jen really ever talked to me.
"Who got the runt of the litter out of the closet?" Camilla sneered.
I looked at her. The freak? Oh ..... she meant me.
"Leave her alone Cam, Father asked her to come," Jen said in my defense.
Camilla scoffed, "Did he now?? Well, whatever, it's not like the alpha king is ever going to pick her to be his luna. She doesn't have a leadership bone in her body."
Michele laughed and snorted at the same time.
"Shut it Michele," Camilla growled. "Later, freak," she scowled at me.
I looked down at my frames and started to fiddle with my fingers.
Jen came over and wrapped her arms around me, "Don't listen to her Anna."
She held my hands so they I couldn't fidget.
'Yeah don't listen to her Annie,' Kid smiled sadly against my ear.
I nodded, as one of the doors opened at the top of the stairs and out walked the Alpha king.
