Eighteen

Anna Pov

"Anna! Come on you need to wake up, we need to go now!" A voice was yelling at me through the black haze that my head currently resided in.

"Mehh," I mumled, i didnt want to move, i didnt want to open my eyes.

There was so much blood, I had never seen so much blood. The blood had stained my vison red and all i could see was Dr Smith, with his abdomen sliced to peices from multiple stab wounds. It was gruesome.

"Anna please, the village is under attack. WE.NEED.To.GO!" Ben shouted at me as his face came through the blur.

"Attack?" I frowned.

"The rebels are attacking the village, we need to get you out of here and warn the estate," he replied urgenytly as he picked me up off the ground, ready to carry me out of the clinic.

"Oh."

I climbed out of his arms and looked around me, there was so much chaos, so much fear. Raising my hand to my lips I looked at Benji.

"We need to do something Benji."

He severed the situation with calculating eyes before saying, "I'm going to shift and start to try and protect the civilians. Anna, could you shift and send a message to your pack?"

My eyes widened, he wanted me to shift. I was scared, but I found myself nodding anyway.

He smiled, "Thanyou Anna, come on let's do this."

I watched as Ben's bones crunched and changed shape as he turned into his light, brown wolf. I gently ran my fingers through his this coat, before shifting myself.

I hated shifter, it hurt like how I would imagine hell to be. I could feel every bone inside of me snapping and changing shape. I never understood why some of the wolves in the pack did this daily, but then again once you had shifted into the wolf there was no better feeling. They say it's like doing drugs, that it is the epitome of freedom and happiness. That's what I clung to as I cried from the pain.

The shifting process seemed to go on forever, but when it was over I took in the scene before me with my improved vision.

People were running and yelling as rebel wolves chased them. Parents held there children tightly in their arm as they tried to hide. Some had started to turn, trying to engage the enemy, but they weren't trained to fight, they were nothing compared to the vicious killers before them.

I had to do something.

'Gray, Uncle Gray, can you hear me?'

"Anna? Anna, why are you in wolf form?" His voice echoed around in my head.

"They're here, Uncle Gray. They rebels are attacking the village, we need your help!" I cried back through the link.

"What!"

"They're here, we need you NOW. Ben is doing his best to try and fight them but there is too many," I urged him, getting slightly frustrated as he wasn't coming.

"Okay, okay. I'm getting reinforcements now, we will be there shortly. Stay safe Anna."

I nodded to myself at his words focusing back on the chaos. I saw Ben get taken down by one of the rebels, it was a smallish wolf. The small wolf bit into Bens hind legs bring him to the ground, I knew that the next bite the wolf would take, would kill.

Without thinking i bolted over to where Ben was about to die, and lunged at the small wolf digging into its neck.

The wolf howled in pain lashing back at me. He started to circle me like a predator circles its prey. And I had no doubt that I was his prey.
Anger was in the wolfs eyes as he sprung from its hind legs at me, slamming me to the ground. I tried to get away, kicking my back legs -bucking like a horse. However, there was nothing I could do, its teeth had a deep grip on my shoulder, holding me down.

I had almost given up, this was it, I was going to die.

I closed my eyes ready for his teeth to sink into my throat, but it never came. Instead when I opened my eyes I saw Luc and the wolf fighting. Luc had vengeance in his eyes as he threw the wolf around like a rag doll, sending it running with its tail between its legs.

I gazed up at Luc as he ran over to me, looking down with concern. I nodded to him to tell him I was okay, and moved my head to tell him to go. I knew he didn't want to leave but with a second look at me he did, guilt heavy in his eyes.

I slowly pulled myself off the ground and limped over to Ben falling down next to him. He nuzzled into my neck gently, and we stayed like that, laying together, for what seemed like ages.

That was when the soldiers arrived.

I think I've almost thought of a cast for this.... its not quite exactly what I was thinking but it was the best I could come up with at the moment.... so here it is :)
