Abbie's POV-

Confused, I ran a shaky hand over my face and looked around trying to make sense of what just happened.

So, a random boy, came into my house, scared the friggin daylights out of me and then vanished. Did that really happen? Or was it just my imagination? maybe it's nerves because of the family BBQ that's making me delusional. Yeah, that's it, I'm not crazy it's just the nerves.

Grabbing my keys and bag I made my way out of my house and to my car. I was still shaking and on the verge of a breakdown. Mind you, who wouldn't be?

-

I pulled up at the all to familiar house, pristine white with a matching white spiked fence. Perfectly cut grass, 4 expensive cars on the drive and over the top balloons with streamers hung from every windowsill.

I could see my dad at the BBQ cooking, accompanied by my sisters husband, Steve. My mother and aunties just to the right of them gossiping with my younger cousins running around their feet. My sister, seven months pregnant, stood in the far corner with my grandparents and older cousins talking and laughing.

Glad to see they started without me. I obviously make an impact at these sorts of gatherings.

I stepped out of my car, slamming the door behind me, only to be faced with multiple pairs of eyes staring at me in silence.

Well isn't this nice? I consider getting back into my car and making a run for it whilst I still can, but no.

"Abbie!" my sister squealed, waddling over to me. "I thought you weren't coming, you haven't been replying to my calls. Is your phone broken?"

"Yeah" I lied "damn thing" I nervously chuckled.

"Well at least your here now, right?"

"Right"

"Let's get this party started!" she shouted, receiving cheers in reply.

I mentally groaned. This is gonna be the longest afternoon of my life.

-

I sat awkwardly on my own, fiddling with my coke can, when another cold shiver ran up my arms. Out of the corner of my eyes I saw something moving. A bush maybe? I leaned closer to see if my suspicions were correct..

"Boo!"

"Ahh" I yelped and spun round to face my older cousin, jake, standing behind me smirking.

"Works every time Abz" he chuckled.

I rolled my eyes as he sat down, he almost immediately slouched in his seat whilst flicking his hair out of his eyes. A move Jo found irresistible and sexy. I wanted to puke to be honest.

"You look very pale and jumpy today, Like you've seen a ghost." He stated " I mean, I know you hate these things but you look like your gonna pass out or something" he lazily smirked.

Jake was probably my favourite family member. Only because he actually understood me and we had a lot in common. When we were little I was just one of the guys to him, we used to run around and shoot everyone else with our imaginary guns, and he always used to say that it was him and I against the rest of the world.

Then he started to actually like girls and hung around with me for my friends. But I didn't complain, he was a good shoulder to cry on.

I weakly smiled at him." No I'm good" I lied.

"Really? you sure?"

I wasn't fine, the whole blue-eyed boy situation in my house had my brain paranoid. I was on edge wanting to know more about this boy. I only spoke/saw him - it - for ten minutes and I was already hooked.

"Yeah I'm good - quick question though, ghosts aren't real right?"

He looked me straight in the eyes and said " No, I'm afraid they are. They hide in mirrors and wall panels and when you are least expecting it they.....brutally murder you"

My eyes widened and my mouth went dry. "Wait....what? are you serious?"

Jake burst out laughing. " Of course ghosts aren't real! Jesus Abz, I knew you were gullible but I didn't think you would be that friggin gullible!"

I nervously laughed with him. " I knew that"

Our conversation carried on for another good thirty minutes. It was mostly filled with banter, teasing and old embarrassing stories.

I glanced at my wrist watch and stood up.

"Well as nice as this has been, J, I gotta go. It's my night shift tonight"

" Aww, well okay. Don't work yourself too hard, alright?"

"Okay".

I waved to the rest of my family members and then drove to the restaurant to work.

- (after work)

"Stupid, good for nothing, piece of junk" I muttered whilst kicking my car bumper.

The friggin thing decided that it didn't want to start at 12:30 in the morning, In the middle of the restaurants deserted car park with no-one around to help.

I rolled my eyes and got my phone out of my pocket. I dialled jakes number - It rung three times before it made a buzzing sound and then it cut off. Confused, I looked at the black screen only to find that my phone had run out of charge.

"Perfect. Just perfect." I muttered.

How cliché was this?

Sighing, I turned on my heal and started the trek home. I didn't even have any music to listen to, which just made my mood worse.

The sounds of the night and the cracking of nature frightened me in my vulnerable state. I started humming 'the black parade' by my chemical romance to try and get my mind off the sinister sounds.

As I neared my house, I started to pass all of the now closed corner shops and pet parlours that were situated along my road. I looked in the windows as I walked, humming and occasionally reading signs. When my heart stopped.

Because, looking back at me in one of the windows was the blue eyed boy.He was dressed from head to toe in black and he had his hands in his leather jacket pockets. He was scowling again and looking at me.

I, once again, span around. Only to find that he was not there. Strange. I turned back around to the window - but I couldn't see him then either.

I hesitated but carried on walking home. The sooner I got there the better.

When I eventually got home, I kicked off my shoes and walked upstairs to get ready for bed. I was tired and anxious - not a good combination. Before I got into bed I decided that I needed a glass of water, so I went to the kitchen to get one.

I grabbed a tall glass from the cabinet, held it under the tap and waited for it to fill up. The water in my area was really dodgy and often had little black bits in it. I held the glass up to the light of the moon to search out any black bits - seconds later I dropped the glass and it shattered on the floor.

Thus being because, as I held it up to the light I could see a clear reflection of someone stood behind me.
