Bexley's POV
"What happened to you?" Max asks looking worried and handing me a towel
"I was just... walking"
"In the rain?"
"Yeah" I say shrugging and not looking him in the eye
"You really don't look okay" he says sitting next to me
"I am. I am. I just needed to think for a bit"
"About what?"
"Things" I say looking down at the floor
"Like?"
"Well, it's just that I don't understand why i would have to lie to my best friend about something that we should be able to talk about" I say
"Why are you hiding it from her?"
"Because if she knew, she'd get really mad at me. I don't wanna lose a friend. Not my best friend" I say looking at the floor again
"Well I think that..." he starts saying. I zone out for a bit because I notice Harvey looking at us from behind a wall. He notices I'm looking at him and he walks away. I sometimes wonder what this kid is doing. Many people would say that's a sign that someone likes you, but trust me, it has happened endless times to me and it's never meant anything. He's probably just wondering what I'm doing here. I start paying attention to Max again "like, yeah, you know" Max says giving me an understanding look

"I sometimes feel like my own thoughts are killing me. I just... I just don't know" I say putting a hand on my forehead

Max's POV
Bexley is a pretty unique girl. She's nice and kind and all, but there's a really mysterious side of her that I'd like to know more about. I simply can't stop wondering what's going on inside her head. It's like she's lost. But she doesn't try to take her anger or desperation or whatever it is out on others. It amazes me how she can brighten the world when it looks like it's really dark inside her mind.

We look at each other without saying anything.  "uh- look, it's really late and I need to go home before my mom starts getting worried about where I am" she says gulping "Thank you for helping, Max. Once again" she lets out a nervous laugh and leaves

"Wow. That was... wow. I don't know what to say. Such a mystery" I say
"Who was that, Max?" Harvey asks me
"It was Bexley" I say looking at the door
"What was she doing here?"
"I don't know. She said she had to clear her head so she went on a walk and it started raining. I looked out the window and there she was, soaking, so I invited her inside" I say looking at him
"Are you two like... dating?" He asks me
"What? No"
"Do you have a thing for her?"
"No"
"Do you..." I interrupt him and say "why are you asking me all these questions?"
"I just wanted to know." He says shrugging
"Sure..." I say skeptical. All these questions can't be only because he wants to know. These sound like questions you would make if you like someone. Harvey starts to walk away. "Harvey, hold up" I say
"What?" He says looking at me like he already knew what I was about to ask "you like her, don't you?"
