Chapter 30

Bexley's POV
I wait for some minutes and then go outside and head towards Harvey's house. Then someone taps my shoulder and I turn around

"Oh my god, you're the best!" I exclaim hugging Harvey

"Your mum is intimidating" he chuckles

"I know, she can be pretty scary at times" I reply with a laugh. We head back to my front door "so, let's go inside"

"What if she comes back?"

"She won't. Please, come inside" I insist giving him a kiss

"Okay, let's go"

We're laying again on my bed joking about the dumbest things

"Wait. I have a question" he tells me narrowing his eyes

"Shoot"

"Am I your boyfriend?"

"I don't know. Do you want to be?" I ask him holding his hand

"Are you asking me to be your boyfriend? Oh my goodness, I'm so happy!" He says ironically followed by a laugh

"I thought you already were my boyfriend"

"I am. But wait" he presses his lips together "since when has this thing been going on?"

"Earlier today when you came talk to me"

"Great. Great" he smiles "Don't you care about what your mum might say?" He asks me

"No, why would I? My mom told me to 'do the right thing' and it's what I'm doing" I look him in the eyes and then my eyes turn to his mouth and I give him a kiss "I'm happy whenever I'm with you. It's the right thing to do"

Hana's POV
On Monday, Bexley told me that she'd be home alone for the weekend and we were planning to hang out. To my surprise, she didn't text asking me to go over as she would usually do. I feel kind of bad for her, she must be home, alone, wallowing since things have been tough lately. I'm not even mad at her because of what she said to me the other day. She was right. I shouldn't have turned her rant into something about me. But more than anything, I'm worried about her because I know she wouldn't usually act like that.

I go outside and hesitate before knocking on her door. Then, out of the blue, she opens the door like she's about to head outside. As soon as she sees me, the expression on her face turns from happy to surprised

"Oh, Hana. Wha-what are you doing here?" She inquires like she's hiding something...

"I jus-"

"I got my phone. Let's go, Bex" Harvey says appearing behind her

...Or someone. Of course. Stupid me to think the reason why she didn't text me was because she was feeling down. Little did I know she was spending the night with the guy who had just recently supposedly broken her heart.

"Hey, Hana" he says waving at me looking just as surprised as her

"Oh um... hi, Harvey" I reply "can I speak to you for a quick second, Bex?"

"Yeah... sure. Be right back, Harvey" she tells him

"Don't take too long, babe" he responds to pulling her close and kissing her passionately. I stand there awkwardly looking at the whole thing happen with a disgusted look on my face as I wonder if I really used to be that cringy when I was with Max, but at the same time, this makes me miss him.

"Okay, what did you want to tell me?" she asks

"I thought you guys weren't in good terms"

"We are now" she shrugs

"Oh... great. But wait, what is he doing here so early?"

"He slept over"

"Um... wow! Cool" I nod "but you guys didn't... do it, did you?"

"Hana, I'm not like that! Believe it or not, I'm smart enough to do what's best for me"

"I know you are, Bexley! But I'm just caring for you. If I didn't care, I wouldn't ask"

"Alright. I'm sorry" she says looking a bit ashamed

"Anyways, there's something I kind of wanted to talk to you about, it's quite a long story but still"

"Can it wait till tomorrow? Harvey and I are going out right now, so..." she asks me

"Oh. Sure, yeah. Sure it can" I say trying to look convinced

Honestly it's kind of sad when no one will listen to you, not even those who you care the most for.

Bexley's POV

"Woah, this place is amazing!" I say looking at my surroundings. We are at the top of the hill and "wait, I know this place! I hadn't come here since-" Zach. The last time I was ever here was back when I still liked him.

"Bexley, did you know you're really pretty?" Zach asked me while we lied on the grass

"Do you really think so?"

"Yeah, why would I ever lie to you?"

"I just... I don't know. No one had ever said that to me" I confessed

"You know what they say, there's a first time for everything" he smiled "I'm going to be your first boyfriend someday as well, just as I'm about to be your first kiss" he told me and then kissed my lips "someday we'll be together. Just wait" he said

"Bex, cover your eyes" Harvey tells me and that's what I do

That day Zach told me that, was the day all my illusions were born and coming back here makes me see just how dead they are now.

"Okay, now, open them" he says. I open my eyes and see him handing me two things, a necklace and a letter.

I carefully move my eyes through the letter. Having him saying such nice things makes me feel special. Maybe it's time I bury all those fake illusions and finally be happy.

"Never got to ask you the right way, so would you be my girlfriend?" he asks me smiling

"Why would that even be a question? Sure, sure... I would!"

Max's POV

I helped Harvey plan all this. He owes me one. Guess this is what it feels like to be lacking something everyone seems to have. That feeling, sorta like emptiness. I miss Hana, but I may be better off without her, I don't know.
