"matt!" i smile, "you really came for me?"

"don't be so flattered, the boys forced me to come," matt looks around, "god, i still can't believe i'm here." he shivers.

"me neither," i say, "you're even wearing a tuxedo!"

he ignores my comment, "i've been holding out my hand for you for like the past minute. do you want to dance or not?" he asks with an attitude, but i'm too happy that i can't be bothered by it.

"right, sorry." i take his hand, and he leads me to the crowded dance floor.

many people stare, but right now, i'm overwhelmingly happy. a part of me doesn't know why i feel like this, but i don't think it matters.

"alright kids, we're gonna take it slow now, so grab a partner and get on that dance floor." the dj announces through a microphone.

a slow song booms through the speakers while everyone grabs their dates, and begin dancing.

"oh, fuck this." matt says, while the light hits against his face and i can see his cheeks turning pink.

"are you blushing?" i giggle.

"me? blushing? yeah, okay." he rolls his eyes.

"well, do you know how to slow dance?" i ask.

"i'm matt champion, of course i can slow dance." he puts both hands on my waist, and i lay my arms on his shoulders. he moves his feet steady to the beat, and surprisingly, i keep up.

"you don't hate valentine's day that much if you really came all the way over here." i watch my feet to make sure i don't step on him.

"oh, i hate it still. there's no doubt about it,"

"but i guess we all can make exceptions." i look up at him.

"you're fucking crazy if you think i made an exception for you on purpose, i was literally forced to come out here." he sighs.

i lay my head against his chest, while we still continue to dance, "either way, thank you for coming. you kinda saved me tonight."

matt doesn't say anything, and instead lays his head on top of mine.

"hey, everlee!" i hear ian's voice.

i turn my head to face him, his eyes widen in shock, "uh, nevermind." he gives me a thumbs up while walking away, his expression looks like he's mentally screaming.

the song stops and switches up to a fast paced one, "thank god that's over," he lets go of me, "that was the worst thing i've ever experienced." he complains.

i look at him confused, "i mean, you looked comfortable to me."

he covers his face, he kinda looks embarrassed, "shut the hell up, everlee."
