it's saturday afternoon. matt's birthday.

last night, matt and i, actually had a really fun time. i begged him a couple of times to dance again, but he kept saying no. other than that, i think he really did enjoy himself.

i decided to make him a card as his present, since i'm a broke ass person. i made it earlier today, i poured a shit ton of glitter on there and put my best drawings in there.

i can afford some balloons from the store too, i can at least get him some of those.

there's a little convenience store that i'm gonna have to walk to since my car is still broken down. the store is only fifteen minutes away on foot anyways.

once i arrive, i look through a catalog filled with balloon choices. i flip through multiple pages, trying to find the birthday themed ones.

i feel a light tap on my shoulder, "hey, everlee!"

i turn around and spot, merlyn, with a handful of balloons, "hey! what are you doing here?"

"i came to pick up some balloons for the party tonight," he glances at them, "you're coming tonight, right?"

"of course! i wouldn't want to miss it."

he smiles excitedly, "come by at eight, joba is going to bring matt so we can all surprise him when he enters. it took forever for him to convince matt to come out of his room." he sighs disappointingly.

i chuckle, "i'll see you there."

he walks towards the door, until i realize that i have to thank him, "merlyn, wait!" i call out.

he turns around, and waits for me to talk, "i want to thank you and the boys for convincing, matt, last night."

his eyebrows scrunch up, "what are you talking about?"

i clarify, "didn't you guys convince him to come to the dance?"

"we all didn't even hang out last night," he grins, "sounds like the hobo lied to you." he waves goodbye, then leaves out the door.

damn you, matt.

i try to forget about what meryln said, and go back to finding the right balloons for this occasion. i eventually find some that are suitable for him. i pay for them, and hurry to house to wish him a happy birthday.

i knock on his front door, hoping he'll answer. matt opens the door just a bit, to peep who it is. i wave, "happy birthday!" i smile.

"hell no, this can't be happening." he tries to shut the door, but i stop it from closing just on time. i shove myself and the balloons inside, which causes the door to swing and hit him right on the forehead.

"is this how you're going to treat the birthday boy?" he says, irritated, and rubs his hand against his forehead.

"whoops, that looks like it hurts, "i say unapologetically, "but i got you these!" i hand the balloons over to him.

i figured that maybe i should give him the birthday card until the actual party.

he stares a them, "i don't like balloons."
