MATT'S POV
i snatch the bracelet away from, madison. "how did you get this?"
she shrugs, "remember the time when we were all in the library? well, i found it on the floor, and since it says your name, i thought it must be yours."
i shake my head, "it's everlee's." i stare down at the bracelet in my hand.
i know that she wouldn't lose it on purpose, but the thought still irks me a bit.
EVERLEE'S POV
i wake up, and find myself alone in matt's room. i can hear him having a conversation downstairs, but his voice is muffled. i rub my eyes while getting out of his bed, i drape his blanket over my shoulders and head downstairs.
i can see him talking to someone at the doorway, but i'm still not sure who it is. he doesn't notice that i'm going down the stairs, he seems really captivated into the conversation he's having.
i stand behind him, "matt, what's going on?" he turns around with a surprised look. i walk closer to see who's at the door, and of course it's madison.
"why the hell are you here?" i pause, "and how do you even know where he lives?"
"i'm giving back the bracelet that you lost," she says innocently, "oh, and joba told me that you both are neighbors. i already know where you live, and then i recognized matt's car out in front. now i'm here." she smiles.
i ignore the second half of what she said, and feel both of my wrists while panicking. i look up at, matt, to only see him staring down at his palm which has my bracelet.
"matt, i swear i didn't lose it. i never take it off, so i don't know how she even got it."
"then how else would i find it on the floor?" madison blurts.
i take a few steps closer to her, "listen, i know you fucking took it-"
matt's phone suddenly buzzes, he digs through his pocket and pulls it out. he looks at the screen and we all see that, ian, is calling him. since when did they have each other's number?
he answers it, and goes into another room for privacy, leaving me and madison alone. a minutes goes by of her and i trying to stand each other's presence since, matt, still isn't back.
i break the silence, "i hope you know that you're wasting your time."
"if anyone's wasting their time, it's you." she mutters.
"you really think you're gonna fuck up my relationship with him?" i quietly laugh, "that's funny."
she glares at me, "it's not as hard as you think."
we hear matt come back from the other room, and madison and i pretend that nothing was said while he was gone. he has a smile on his face, and he hands me back my bracelet.
he gives me a quick kiss, "i gotta go meet the boys, you should go back to bed." he says.
"matt, it's eleven, why are you going right now?" i ask.
"i know it's late, but can you tell my mom that i'm sleeping over with the boys?"
i nod, and he continues, "it's just that it's important. but i'll see you tomorrow, okay?" he sounds excited for whatever he's about to go meet the boys for.
i nod again, "okay, but drive safe."
he leaves out the door, brushing pass madison. we both watch him drive away quickly in his car.
once he's gone, i look over at her, "well, you can leave now." i shut the door.
