MATT'S POV

after school, the boys and i went to joba's house to keep him distracted from what happened with madison today. he's still pretty upset with her and with what happened, but we're trying our best to keep his mind off of it.

everlee, couldn't make it since she had to help her mom out with something. after she's done, we're gonna head over to wesley's house.

we all sit around joba's room, and merlyn is rummaging through his backpack, "joba, i bought you candy!" he pulls out two packages of candy from his backpack.

he tosses it over to him, and it causes him to finally crack a smile, "thanks."

joba looks around the room, "i'm okay, guys, i promise. i know she isn't worth to be all upset about."

"you'll find someone even better." dom pats his back.

"you guys are the best," joba smiles but then quickly decides to change the subject, "alright, enough of this pity party. are you guys going to prom?"

my eyes widen, "fuck, when is that again?"

"pretty sure it's next friday." romil shrugs.

merlyn groans, "don't tell me you don't have anything planned for, everlee."

how in the hell did i forget about prom?

"oh my god," ian gasps, "he doesn't have shit planned for her. that's surprising."

"are you gonna ask her with flowers?" ameer asks.

"i think chocolate would be better." joba suggests.

"you could literally give her a rock and she'd still get emotional." bearface says.

"i mean, he isn't wrong." ian shrugs.

i really want to really surprise her. i know she loves corny shit, so i want to make this huge.

"hey, merlyn?"

his head perks up, "yeah?"

"do you still have those leftover fireworks from a couple months ago?" i ask him.

he nods, "they're in my garage, why?"

"i think i could use them."
