MATT'S POV

a few hours later of us eating and talking, i decide to leave since it's starting to get dark. i abruptly get up from the picnic table, "i should get going, i promised everlee that i'd check up on her."

i flip on my hood, and get ready to leave until the rest of them get up too, "can we come along? we haven't seen her since you both started dating." romil says.

i shrug, "sure."

EVERLEE'S POV

i've been writing so much that my hand is starting to cramp up. theres a mess on my bed too, there's textbooks, pens, and papers all over the place. i hear a faint knock on the front door, and i'm sure that it's matt. i go down the stairs then open the door, and to my surprise i see all the boys standing behind him. also some girl that i've never seen before.

they all have a huge smile on their faces, except the girl. "hi, everlee!" they say in harmony.

i giggle, "hey guys! come in."

i move aside and let them into the living room. merlyn, grabs the remote off the coffee table and turns on the tv while the rest of them make themselves comfortable on the floor and seats.

i close the door and sit on the couch. matt, sits next to me and puts his arm around me, "you look tired. do you wanna rest?" he asks.

"nah, i wanna stay here with you." i say.

joba, stands next to the girl who i still don't know, "everlee, this is madison. she's a friend of mine." he introduces her.

"it's nice to meet you." i smile at her. she doesn't return one and instead keeps a serious expression, causing my smile to quickly fade.

"go ahead and sit wherever you like." i tell her, trying to make her feel welcomed.

she sits next to, matt, and makes herself comfortable. it's kinda getting awkward, so i try to make a conversation, "so, how did you meet joba?" i ask her.

"we have calculus together." she replies.

i nod my head slowly, "have you guys known each other for a while now?"

she sighs and looks bored, "if you would've came over to joba's earlier, then you would know all this."

bitch.

"i was doing school work." i look at her, annoyed.

"you could've been doing something else for all we know." she crosses her arms.

i bitterly laugh, "are you trying to accuse me of something? you don't even fucking know me."

"maybe i am."

"are you on crack? is that what you're on? is it crack?" i get up from the couch and so does she.

"can you both stop fighting?" joba, snaps at the both of us.

"then tell your little friend, madeline, to fuck off." i face him while pointing at her.

"it's, madison!" she raises her voice.

"oh sorry, let me say it again, "i clear my throat, "tell your little friend, mackenzie, to fuck off."

"can you both please just get along?" joba asks. i keep my mouth shut for his sake and sit back next to, matt.

all i know is that i don't fucking like her.
