MATTS POV
it's now the beginning of april, and things are finally back to normal. the senior class is back from the trip, everlee and i are talking again, and everything is actually going well.
i hear a knock on the front door, and i rush to it in hope that it's, everlee. instead, i'm greeted with her friend.
"ian, right?" i ask him.
"that's right," he nods, "and we have something super important to talk about."
i shrug, "come by later then, i don't feel like talking about anything." i close the door.
"it's about, everlee!" he yells.
i quickly open the door, "what about her?"
he lets himself in, and makes himself comfortable on the couch. i close the door, and sit across from him.
"so, what about her?"
"her birthday is in a couple of days, and i really want you to help me plan a party for her." he explains.
everlee's birthday? what the hell am i supposed to get her?
"why me?"
ian sighs, "you and i are literally her only close friends, she wouldn't want anyone to throw her a party except for us."
i nod at the thought of it, "alright, i'll help you plan it."
he gets up, and heads towards the door, "great, i'll talk to you tomorrow then."
i get up from the couch, "wait, is there something that she's always wanted? it's her eighteenth birthday, what would she want?"
he gasps, "you should ask her out for her birthday! that'd be a great present for all of us." he says excitedly.
"yeah, not yet."
