A NO SHOW

god, the party is insane. i'm starting to wonder if the entire school population is here. i just arrived, so i go inside the house, getting past all the kids who are already fucked up.

i look around the whole house to find, wesley, and i don't have any luck on it. but i do see, matt and the boys. i walked past, matt, a couple times but he ignores me. it seems like he still doesn't wanna talk to me.

two hours have went by, and i decided to just screw it and get drunk. i still haven't seen, wesley, around. he hasn't called or texted either. things are definitely not going as planned. so, i decided to look for him once more before giving up.

but why the hell did, wesley, wanna hang out here if he wasn't even gonna show up?

i haven't searched the porch yet, so i make my way there. after struggling to get in between a bunch of people, i finally make it. i walk all around the porch, making sure i've checked every single corner.

all of a sudden, i start to get dizzier by the step. my vision is getting blurry, and i'm tripping over my own feet. i lean against the brick wall and use it as support, but then i begin to feel something come up my throat. i cover my mouth trying to hold it in, but before i know it, i'm puking everywhere.

this night is going great.

i finish up, and wipe my mouth with my sleeve. i hear someone's footsteps coming out to the porch, "everlee? what are you doing?" a familiar voice says.

i rub my stomach, and i face the person. fuck, it's matt. of course.

i try to smile, but every muscle in my body feels weak, "hey, matt, what are you doing here?"

he ignores my question, and comes in closer to examine my face, "you're really fucking drunk, aren't you?"

"as if you aren't too." my words slur.

he shakes his head, "i would be drunk if i didn't see you fall every five minutes. i knew you were going to end up like this." he points at me up and down.

"i'm not that drunk." i argue.

he sighs, "just come on, i'm gonna take you home."

i furrow my eyebrows, "i thought you were mad at me? you haven't been talking to me." i frown.

"i'm not mad at you, i'm mad at myself."

"but why?" i ask.

"why do you ask so many questions?" matt, says annoyed. then he turns around and crouches down, "hurry up, and get on my back. i'll carry you."

i do as instructed, and climb onto his back. i wrap my arms around his neck, and i adjust myself to make it comfortable for the both us. he stands up slowly, and walks off the porch without a problem.

"where's your car?" he asks.

i point down the street, "all the way down there."

"you should've told me that before i offered to carry you," he groans. "who did you come with?  i know you wouldn't come alone."

i quickly come up with a lie, "i came with, ian,"

"will he be okay on his own? i can ask, merlyn, to take him home." matt offers.

"i'm sure he's fine." i convince him.

he continues to carry me all the way down the street. once we finally spot my car, he puts me down, but still grips onto my arm so i won't fall.

"give me your keys." he puts his hand out.

i reach into my front pocket, and pull out my keys. i give them to him as he carefully helps me into the car.

-

matt, leads me up to my room and lays me down. i slip off my shoes, and make myself comfortable in my bed. he grabs my blanket, and covers me with it.

"need anything?" he asks, while he strokes strands of hair out of my face.

i shake my head, "i think i'm good," my eyes begin to get heavier with every blink, "thanks for taking me home, matt. i appreciate it." i give him a weak smile.

he grins, "no problem." he takes a pillow off my bed, and tosses it onto the floor.

i look at him confused. he sits down, and takes off his shoes, "what? did you think i was gonna leave you here alone?"

"i mean, you literally live next door so there isn't really a reason for you to stay here."

matt, rests his head back onto the pillow, "you're kinda fucked up right now, i think you need me to stay here with you."

"i'm not gonna do anything stupid." i tell him.

"just go to sleep." he demands while flipping around on the floor, trying to get comfortable.

i throw him a blanket, "goodnight, matt."

-

"everlee, wake up!" i wake up to someone's hand rocking me back and forth. i rub my eyes, trying to open them. as expected, my head hurts really bad.

i slowly sit up to see, matt, standing in front of me with a plate full of pancakes, "i made you breakfast."

i smile as i look down at the plate. i never thought he would actually do something like this for me.

"thank you." i say softly, taking the plate away from him.

he rubs the back of his neck, "how are you feeling?"

"my head hurts, but i think i can get through it." i take the fork off the plate, and start cutting into the pancakes.

matt, nods his head, "i left some water for you on your nightstand," he points to it, "also, your mom is home."

shit, i forgot today is her day off.

"did she see you?" i ask, worried. she's gonna kill me if she finds out, matt, stayed over.

"i told her you let me in earlier, so we can work on a school project."

i sigh out of relief, until someone unexpectedly opens my bedroom door, "everlee? are you okay? the person says quietly.

the person slowly comes inside, revealing who they are.

wesley.
