Alison removed her shoes and switched out her dress for jeans and a tee shirt and work boots. She arrived into the kitchen to have three pairs of canine eyes staring up at her. She apologized and went to work, mentally ticking off the list in her head: putting their food together along with the various medications and vitamin supplements. She then moved on to the horses. She cut up apples and carrots and put them into a large bowl to carry out to the barn. On her way out, she scooped out food for the barn cats and opened the door to find several pair of feline eyes staring. She made her way through the cats to where their feeding area was. She poured out the food and headed for the main aisle of the barn, turning on the water along the way. The afternoon had been quite warm and she was sure that they'd need fresh water. She called for the horses to come down and she busied herself with gathering their grain and supplements. She carried the apple mixture and mixed it with the grain and poured it into the buckets. She watched them trot toward the fence and she smiled. She then returned to the barn and gather up the hay that she was going to feed them. She sighed when she realized that she had to go up to the loft and bring more hay down. She really didn't feel up to it, but she'd rather not have to do it first thing in the morning.

When Alison finished feeding the horses, she returned to the house and went upstairs to her bedroom to feed her indoor cats and when she was finished with them, then she'd be able to eat her dinner. She was thankful that she had something to eat that she didn't have to cook...she wasn't feeling up to cooking for just herself.

When she finished eating, she booted up the computer and looked over the emails, a few ads and several training inquiries...she'd deal with them later. She wasn't certain if she was in the right headspace to take on a client or two. It was hard enough thinking about finishing up David's client list...she didn't feel that she was as confident in her abilities to deal with manic dogs and their people as David thought she was.

She undressed and walked into the shower and let the water rain over her as she had a good cry, mostly out of frustration than grief. She washed her hair and finished up. Realizing she was exhausted, she donned David's robe, since it was there and went upstairs and crawled into the bed and fell asleep immediately.

Nineteen year old Alison Powers  heard a knock on her hotel room door and got up from the bed on which she was lounging, reading through the tourist pamphlets she had picked up at the airport and walked toward the door. She glanced up at the door and crawled off the little bed, walked the five feet to the locked door and looked through the peephole. She closed her eyes as she sighed. Alison opened the door and stood to the side, silently ushering him inside the room.

"Thought you might want to talk," he said.

"I thought we could talk on the phone..."

"I don't like telephones. You know that."

"Thought you could make an exception."

"They hurt my ears."

"Oh yeah. Says the guy who drives his bike at mach two and listens to hard rock at volume 97."

"At least it's not one hundred." Sebastian looked around and stretched out his arms. "This place is a matchbox Ali. Even a bit smaller than my tiny flat at Sonny's."

She nodded and smiled remembering; she spent a lot of time there. "Pretty much. Have a seat."

Sebastian looked around again and saw that there was only the bed to sit on. He breathed in deeply.

"Take off your jacket and stay a while," she teased. "You want something to drink?"

"Sure. What do you have?"
