A/N
Okay y'all...about half way into this chapter is a little love scene. If it's not your thing, skip it...it's not raunchy (I don't DO raunch), but if you skip it, the beginning of the next chapter might be confusing. Just saying....Thanks for reading...
All the love...
KM 😘"There's one special family member you haven't met yet," Sebastian told her as he smiled brightly.
"Oh," she asked. Alison downed the last dregs of her coffee and took his outstretched hand.
He led her back outside and called out to his beloved dog. "SALLY! Come on girl!"
Alison watched the horizon for an animal, any animal to present themselves, but save a few birds, nothing appeared.
Concerned, Sebastian walked further out from the grass to the brush. Finally, he withdrew his wand from the interior pocket of his jacket. Alison didn't hear him say anything but he turned around and returned toward her.
"She's this way," he said.
Alison once again took his outstretched hand and they walked back to the house.
"Hey Alfred? Have you seen Sal this morning?"
"She was in your room keeping your bed warm," he said with a grin.
Sebastian heaved a heavy sigh and shook his head, then motioned that she should follow him.
"Your bedroom..."
His shoulders fell as his brow rose. "What?"
"I got the impression that your dogs stayed out here. I mean, there's five dog beds..." She walked beside him.
Then he stopped in his tracks. "Ali...if I wanted to take you in my bed, then that's what would happen."
"Oh yeah?"
He nodded and grinned, "yeah. Come on. It's just this way." He opened the last door on the left and looked in. "Come on you old bitch! You missed your cue...Get off the bed!"
Alison stopped in her tracks.
He approached his bed. "SALLY! Come on girl! You're making me look bad..."
"Bastian," Alison whispered.
"Ah, she's deaf now and just sleeping hard. She sleeps a lot now." He reached down and gently touched her shoulder. "Sal?"
Alison stood next to him watching his face and she wrapped her arm around his waist. "I'm sorry, honey," she whispered.
He smiled and pointed. "No! She's just a sound sleeper...watch! She's gonna lift her head and grumble...wait and see...she kind of reminds me of you..." He grinned.
She looked to the dog and saw her take a deep breath and huff and Alison laughed as tears filled her eyes.
Sebastian sat down next to his old dog and swished her large ears back and forth until the dog lifted her head and barked a series of loud high-pitch barks that actually sounded like she was yelling at him.
"Oh yeah? And what are you gonna do about it, aye?"
Sally grumbled a low business growl.
Sebastian chuckled and held out his arms for Alison and she fell into them and he let her cry as he held her close. Sally nosed at his arm and he scratched at her ears, her nose on overdrive, sniffing in Alison's direction.
"Sally, meet Alison. Ali, this is...well, this is my girl, Sally."
Alison crouched down so that she was face to face with the old dog. Sally's ears we're facing forward and her nose was still on overdrive, sniffing hard. Alison lay her cheek on the bedspread as Sally continued to sniff. Then she felt her head being nudged at and she turned her head and slowly lifted her hand to scratch at Sally's ears.
