James appeared in his grandfather's living room where Alison and Debbie were huddled tightly together on the sofa. Topher signaled that they should stay put and ran to the other room to fetch George.
l
James carried him to his old bedroom and carefully laid him on the bed. George sprinted in the room followed closely by Topher."How many times have I told you that the lone wolf always falls..." George grumbled, feeling his son for fever. "James get my bag?"
"Which one?"
The old man nodded, "the professional one."
"I'm not going to die today, god damn it!"
"Hold still. Where did she get you?"
"My hand," he whispered. "Fucking stings like the devil..."
"Where?"
"Everywhere..." he said slowly fighting to keep his eyes open. "Dad, I don't feel right..."
"How do you mean?"
"Like, something else is here with me..."
"With you?"
"Inside me..."
"Like a walk in?"
Sebastian looked past him and struggled to see that Topher was leaning in to get a better look at him.
George studied the wound for a minute and allowed Topher to take a look. "Well mate, you know that the mundanes are making great strides in prosthetic technology..."
"I'm not losing my fucking hand," he wheezed. "God, I feel like hell's ants are feeding on my blood and I can't focus on..."
George looked up to his grandson. "Go get your mother and bring her to me. Bastian is losing consciousness too quickly for my liking."

Alison lay her head on her arm as she sat by his bedside holding his left hand in hers when she heard him groan.
She lifted her head. "Hi there," she whispered and turned on the light.
"Hi there," he replied, gazing at her, the light behind her haloing her. "Where am I?"
She looked around. "Well, if I had to guess, by the posters of the girls on motorcycles, I'd say this is or was your room once upon a time?"
He smiled, "Mmm. Well, you know, I'm not allowed to have girls in my room."
She moved to stand. "Oh. Well then, I can go?"
He took hold of her hand. "Don't you dare...Pops can kiss my arse."
She smiled. "You know, when I saw you lying there in that get up you were in..."
"Yes?"
"Well," she chuckled uneasily, "I'm wondering just how inappropriate it was that I was quite turned on by the sight of you in it?"
He looked into her eyes and grinned as he lifted his bandaged hand to pull her down for a heated kiss. "You liked that, did you?"
She nodded and smiled. "Yes I did."
He nodded and grinned. "Well, Toph did say I'd be a chick-magnet in it."
She swatted at his bare chest and he laughed. "More so than normal you mean?"
Sebastian snorted.
"We were all scared for you, you know. That was really dumb what you did."
He nodded. "It was...a calculated risk. But you understand that I had to do it. Where is she now. Do we know?"
