After the tearful rite, Beth and Alison cleaned up the candles, incense and the rest of her gear and packed it away in the small trunk. Alison sat and looked at the newly turned over earth. The memory of Sebastian and James gently lowering the large animal into the magically created chasm was still fresh in her mind. She was glad that she thought to ask Sebastian and James to place a locking charm on the grave so that the unthinkable wouldn't happen...

"I think you've watched too many episodes of Game of Thrones, Sissy," Beth teased. Alison countered that she was actually thinking of the Inferi from the Harry Potter series. That comment seemed to shut her sister up.

She looked toward her horse's legs as he ambled up to her. Rajah had pitched the hissy-fit from hell, when she got, what he apparently felt was entirely too close to the precipice of the deep grave, obviously leading to the very depths of horsie-hell, she turned her head to keep eye contact with him as she tossed in various herbs, a lock of her hair, bits of candle wax and a skeleton key...if anyone was going to resurrect this animal, it was going to be her and her alone. Beth still thought it was a silly notion, but given the circumstances, the others did not.

She leaned her head in the animal's muscular leg; the magnificent creature pulling guard duty for the moment, lowering his muzzle to play with the shining circlet still haloing her head. "God dammit I'm tired," she mumbled, still fingering the gifted stick.

Rajah nickered quietly and nuzzled her hair and moved backwards when Suzy ambled over to her and crouched next to her. "Listen, Sebastian said that you haven't slept...why don't you go crash, the three of you and come by for some supper later? I was going to grill chicken, but I don't quite have enough for everyone so how about burgers and hot dogs for the girls?"

Alison smiled. "I've chicken in the deep freezer, you're welcome to it."

"Are you sure?"

"It's the least I can do, Suzy...I bought potatoes before I left—don't know what's left or even if they're any good, but if you'd like, you can help yourself to those and make a potato salad or something?"

"Sounds like a plan," Suzy replied quietly.

"Thanks for everything..."

Suzy smiled warmly. "You're welcome. I'm glad I could help. Mark is going to be so excited when I tell him...Sebastian is why he went into law enforcement in the first place..."

Alison smiled brightly and chuckled. "That's going to be fun to watch..."

Suzy nodded her agreement and said her good byes and left the small group.

The sun was high in the sky and beaming brightly on the hill where she still sat. She felt a bit of perspiration trickling from her temple down the side of her face and she wiped at it with the tips of her fingers and sighed quietly as she lay back on the ground, the incline of the hill providing the perfect position for slumber, as Rajah continued to stand as her sentinel.

Soon though, a long shadow cast over her, waking her from her impromptu dream-state and she instinctively shielded her eyes and opened them.

"If I didn't know that there are satellites somewhere above, I'd take you right now."

"Don't you dare," she replied in a low voice. She held out her hand. "Help me up?"

Sebastian took her dainty hand in his and pulled her to her feet and felt her arms wrap around his torso. Her breathing quickened to a staccato and he picked her up and carried her down the hill toward the gate that separated the pasture and the back yard.
