Sebastian drove the return trip two hours south holding on to Alison's hand. She smiled at him and he watched her face cloud with concern. "Bastian, just how tired are you? He smiled and nodded as he sighed. "Would you like for me to drive?"

He glanced over at her. "No, I'll be alright. Just...talk to me. That's what you used to do."

"What do you want to talk about?"

"Oh, I dunno?"

She chuckled. "I understand that Matus Enterprises is huge?"

He nodded. "Worldwide. We have to be."

She nodded. "Yeah, I guess you would?"

"So you trained my mother's gremlin?"

She chuckled again. "If you're referring to Caesar, then yes."

He nodded. "He's a good dog. Does what he's asked. Wish mine did."

"How many dogs do you have?"

"Five."

She nodded thoughtfully.

"Think that's a lot?"

She went on to explain her thoughts on the matter...once you house more than three, there's really no difference. Except in the food and medical bills. He laughed, agreeing with her. He asked her about David, what kind of man he was. She replied with brilliant. Handsome. He may not have been a wizard, she had said, "but he could certainly work magic with those dogs."

"Was he good to you?"

"Yes."

"Was he ever unkind to you?"

She sighed heavily. "No...we had our ups and downs like any couple. We disagreed on a lot of things, but when it came to the dogs, he was the boss. My cats drove him nuts."

He snorted and smiled as he nodded his head. "We did too," he said quietly.

"Wish I could remember," she whispered.

He squeezed her hand tenderly, then kissed it. "You will, Love. You will."

"Were we happy?"

His smiled broadened. "I like to think so."

She shook her head. "I can't imagine them breaking us up then. I'd like to think that I fought it tooth and nail."

His face registered a sadness and he nodded. "You did. You were out numbered magically."

"What about you?"

"I scared the ever loving shite out of them," he chuckled. "They didn't want to piss me off, see? I almost transformed."

"Like you did earlier?"

He nodded. "Yeah," he whispered.

"Did I see it?"

He nodded. "Yeah. Talked me down, held on to me so tightly." He swallowed hard. "I realized that they would have put me down so I cooperated."

"Did they take your memories too?"

"Yes, they did."

"Oh my god..."

He breathed in deeply. "We had a Christmas party since we were all going away for the hols," he began, recollecting how he had sent the film off to be developed and then sent to Topher's parents in England.

"Is that where you went? Back to England?"

He nodded. "Yeah. A few months later, I was just about to submit my resignation of the entire thing when Mum visited me and brought an infant with her."
