Reunion

Shayne:

Olivia and I were on our way out of the wedding planners office. We were talking and I guess I wasn't paying much attention. I bumped into someone and they fell to the ground.

"Hey, I'm sorry, you ok?" I said reaching my hand out.

"Thanks, I'm fine" She said grabbing my hand and pulling herself up.

When she stood up our eyes met and I recognized her.

"Oh my god Shayne?" She said.

"Vanessa?" I said suprised.

"Wait you two know each other?" Olivia said from behind me.

"We went to Middle School together" I said.

"Yeah, you were the weird kid always making bad jokes" Vanessa said laughing.

"Hey! Some of them were good!" I defended myself.

"I guess 'some' of them were good" Vanessa said with air quotes.

"Thanks" I said laughing.

"Ahem" Olivia says from behind me.

I turn and look at Olivia.

"Are you going to introduce me?" Olivia asked.

"Oh sorry babe, Vanessa this is Olivia" I said.

"His fiancee" Olivia said shaking Vanessa's hand.

"Congratulations!" Vanessa said cheerily.

"We should catch up, you and me" I told her.

"Sure, you free this weekend?" She asked.

"Yeah, you want to get lunch or something?" I ask.

"How does lunch on Saturday at 3 sound?" She said.

"Sounds good, I'll be there" I say.

"See ya" Vanessa said walking down the hall.

"Bye" I said and turned back to Olivia.

She had a scowl on her face.

"You ok?" I asked Olivia.

"No I'm not ok" She said sarcastically to me.

"Uhh what's up?" I asked.

"Shayne, you completely ignored me just when you were talking to her" She said.

"My bad" I said.

"And you didn't even ask if I was free Saturday" She said annoyed.

"I uh... I thought it would be just her and I" I stated.

"What?" She said.

"I didn't think you would be interested in boring old stories about school" I said.

"Wow" She said in disbelief.

"What? Wait.... Are you jealous?" I asked her.

"No! I'm not jealous!" She said defensively.

"Ok, then what is?" I said throwing my hands up.

"Never mind" She said starting to walk.

"Olivia!" I said walking after her.

"I said never mind Shayne" Olivia said.

We walked back in silence to the car. The car ride home was eerily silent as well. When we got inside the apartment I tried to talk to Oliva but she shut the bedroom door in my face. I knocked on the door softly. She didn't answer. I waited a couple seconds and knocked again.  There was silence before she finally answered.

"What?" She said grumpily.

"Can I come in?" I ask gently.

"Sure.. whatever.." Olivia said.

I opened the door slowly and saw her laying under the covers in the bed. I shut the door behind me and sat on the bed next to her. She had her head in a pillow turned away from me.

"Olivia, will you listen to me?" I said soflty stroking her hair.

"Hmph" Olivia said.

I took a stray piece of her hair and tucked it behind her ear.

"Olivia, You... You are the girl I'm marrying not Vanessa" I said.

She didn't say anything and just laid there.

"Liv, you are my world, I'm not going to blow it on some girl I knew from school" I told her.

"Go on" She said quietly.

"What?" I asked.

"Keep going" She said the corners of her lips rising in a smirk.

"I love you, I don't love her" I said.

"Warmer" she said.

I rolled her over onto her back and looked at her while she smiled.

"You are my world" I finished.

"Was that good enough?" I asked.

"I suppose it'll do" She said smiling.

She sat up and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

"I don't mind you talking to other people but please don't ignore me" Olivia said.

"I'm sorry, if you want I'll skip the lunch" I said.

"No, go to lunch, it's just lunch right?" She said.

"Of course, it's just lunch" I said laying down next to her.

Little did we know that lunch meant something different to Vanessa.
