Taking in all of the painting and admiring it, I finally understood why everyone gushed about Grayson's art.

It was devilish, darkness mixed with delicacy. Beauty imprinted within something vile.

The painting ahead of us presented a deep red rose being painted ever so beautifully, the smallest of details were emphasized and perfected making it stand out.

But it wasn't only a red rose, he added a hint of darkness in it. A skeleton's hand of the palest shade was reaching for the rose, almost touching it—yet it wasn't.

The contrast between the two things made the painting stand out beneath the canvas and left a trail of mystery behind.

"Got to admit, I'm really impressed young man. Would you take a moment to explain what's going on in the painting ?" Mr. Eric said, pointing towards the artwork ahead.

I believe he's the professor of the art faculty.

Grayson cleared his throat scratching his neck throwing the class a quick quick glance before laying his eyes on the drawing again

"Uh i wanted to kinda make a contrast between two things, innocence and darkness"

He paused slightly before continuing

"The rose represents something gentle and soft, something pure and beautiful and I couldn't think of anything else to describe that other than... well a rose" he chuckled lightly

Everyone present sent him a smile waiting for him to continue

"Meanwhile the hands of the skeleton represent possessiveness, something dark and messed up, also very complicated...like myself actually " he admitted hesitantly

"The skeleton wants to reach for that rose so bad, but he knows if he touched it or got close it will only destroy the rose and crumble it in the process"

"He chose to admire that rose from afar. He chose to control his possessiveness for her, the rose  I mean"

He soon shifted his gaze, staring right into me as we made eye contact "Because if you like a flower you don't pick it up because if you pick it up, it dies."

Immediately after, he shook his head as if he forced himself to snap out of his own trance, averting his gaze to the professors "I call this life and death"

His artwork sure left us fascinated but when he explained it further more it's like it got more beautiful giving it a full meaning.

I was genuinely really impressed with his skills and so was everyone else.

"This was yet your best work grayson, I'm glad to call you my student but I'm also glad that you were able to share this with everybody"
