"I know it ain't easy loving me
cause I choke, I knowbut when you touch me tenderly,
I soak up your gold, I know."
—Pheona; your love[HIGHLY recommend
listening]—
With heavy steps and hesitance Rose made her way upstairs. It was already midnight, the moon had came out and most eyes were endured by sleep, wandering around in a dream. However, some other souls laid around in bed fiddling around the sheets with sleepless eyes as they were held captive by overthinking and lots of negative thoughts.
It was pretty crazy, how the moon witnessed both of these people looking down at them. Some slept with no bother whatsoever while others stayed awake like an owl, letting life weigh down on them
Grayson was one of those many people.
He laid on his side, his face scrunched up in the pillow as occasional tears wet the pillow material. He tried not to let them fall, disciplining his emotions but a drop or two couldn't help but graze down his cheek.
The door of his bedroom was soon opened carefully with delicate hands. He didn't need to turn around, already knowing who it was. He became accustomed to her scent and aura blindly by now and it would be a lie to say, it didn't bring him peace.
He tightly shut his eyes, not wanting her to see him in his vulnerable state—even though she already did. He sensed her standing at the door frame, gradually stepping closer. "Don't even Rose. I want to be alone."
It wasn't the right time to get weakened by her, he should be angry.
"Gray..." she started, voice trembling and quivering lips. He breathed heavily through his nose, clenching his jaw as he found himself surrendering to her by just his name getting spilled out from her tongue. Damn you for affecting me badly.
He glanced back towards her as she got met with his sorrowful eyes making her heart sink down deeper. "I hid it because I wasn't the right one to deliver to you such news, because-"
"Go away," he cut her off sternly, forcing ever cell and atom in his body not to snap at her and pour his madness into her—she didn't deserve it.
"Because I was asked not to." She completely ignored him. "We had good intentions. I don't ever intentionally lie to you, I don't ever want to see you get hurt."
"It breaks me," her voice cracked and as soon as the sentence flew out of her mouth, another tear slipped out of his beautiful broken eyes.
"G-Go," he repeated.
He hated himself in that moment—so weak and fragile. He didn't want her seeing him like this, he wanted to be alone with his demons comforting him and darkness clouding him.
"You've become someone so important to me." she moved a little closer, shaking her head. "I'm not going anywhere. Your darkness and sadness doesn't drive me away, it makes me cling to you. You don't know how much you mean to me, you don't know your worth."
