"White lies."
——
"Babe, would you come here for sec?!"
Rose's attention span got dispersed once being called by Grayson from across his bedroom.
Trying to paint a loving smile on her face, she failed to display a genuine one. All what consumed her thoughts was the lie she's been hiding from him for the past four days now.
Her thoughts were chaotic, the truth sat on her tied tongue being left unspoken. She wanted to blurt it out but knew by his brother's request, she had to keep it between him and herself.
"Coming!" she yelled back, drying her wet hands into the back of her jeans as she left the kitchen sink.
Approaching Grayson's room upstairs, the door was left opened and the more she got closer, the more she saw the faint smile displayed on his lips.
She couldn't help but imitate his expression as happiness on him was contagious and something she loved to witness.
Getting to his full view, he sat on his bed crossed legged as he held his phone slightly away from his face, looking directly into the camera. A muffled sound was heard from the other side indicating he was on FaceTime.
His face light up even more once he noticed Rose's presence and essence. He looked over the screen again proudly, his dimples decorating his cheeks.
He motioned her to come closer, patting the space next to him. She happily obeyed, but also couldn't help but steal an immediate look into the screen.
"Mom," Grayson started staring into the screen as his hazel orbs light up. "This is my girlfriend."
He concentrated the camera more towards Rose's face frame as she lovingly waved at the screen, seeing his mother's expression fall into shock. "Hi,"
"Girlfriend?!" His mother's tone slightly went up being occupied with a slight squeal. "Grayson! Oh my god, she's beautiful."
They both chuckled softly, staring lovingly at the frantic middle aged women. Tears of joy were about to spill out of her beautiful eyes as this was a moment she's been waiting for her whole life.
She's always wanted her son to get into a relationship, hopefully settling down with someone on a serious level. She always wanted her son to destruct his walls and display emotion and surely, today was the day her wishes were granted.
"Mom, oh my god," Grayson laughed softly seeing as his mother was wiping few tears that emitted out of her pupils.
A fragment of a sad smile and a happy one made it's way towards Rose's lips finding the situation rather adorable and saddening.
Grayson's mother, Lisa, averted her gaze back at Rose's direction. "It's so nice to finally meet you. I didn't know my son had good taste in women. You know you really should come down here, we would do many fun activities together! Also-"
"Okay mom, that's enough," Grayson interrupted chuckling with a shake of his head. The pit of his stomach was swarming with happiness at the sight of his mother.
